EHS I sat with Pete Slagle last night and he was a little nervous at start of game but I told him Rhett played good.

Awesome. I'll only be able to attend the DB game and maybe homecoming. My wife's sister is on the West Ridge dance team so I'll be going to most of their games this year. So I'll be getting my updates from you all lol

I stand corrected.  I’ve been so used to Region 1 vs 2 alcoa Maryville Knox west Anderson the past few years I had forgotten they used to be region 3.

It looks like…..3 years they made it to the 4th round but got stuck on Alcoa and CAK.  Man that’s been such a long time ago.  THey got to round 4 with a pretty good team and met a very good alcoa team, although one year I remember they played them really close.  My point still stands tho, it took a lot of years to get over that hump and in SH case they still deal with Maryville and for Betsy, them Greeneville and lately Anderson feel like are the hurdles to deal with in 4A.

Alcoa, CAK (Rusty Bradley era) and Greeneville (Ballard era) are way more than a "hump" to get over. More like getting over the Himalayas, and IMO not a reflection on Witten's coaching ability.

Witten applied for the head coaching job at DB when Clark retired. The word is they passed him over for consideration because he wanted to bring one or two coaches from Betsy with him. I believe the truth is that Clark picked his replacement from the get-go and all the interviews were just for show. And that shows that in Kingsport it's not about winning or the kids or the fans. It's all about keeping the "Good Ole' Boy Network" in power. The football program will never be anything more than it is right now today. Somewhat average.

The coaching "search" was a farce. Christian is a nice guy, but things are never going to change.

The last game EHS played Alcoa before we went to 4A we had our best chance to close the gap. Imagine if Witten had the resources of a SH or a DB. You'd be looking at Maryville 2.0

West Ridge, DB, or SH need to throw some money at Witten and give him a chance. I personally would like to see what he could do at a 6A program.

DB - has the GOB system and seems to care more about the band than football

SH - has no fan and community support, so maybe they don't care about football much either

WR - would Witten risk leaving a very successful Elizabethton program for an unknown 6A WR?

The reason I put WR on the list. It's still a new program, theoretically in my opinion since it doesn't already have a system in place it would be easier to get everyone on the same page from the youth league up.

I agree with DB.

SH is just weird to me. Carter has for sure taken the program to a new level, but imo they still aren't as good as they should be.

    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
    • Interesting how quite it is. Rumors are going around that Anderson County is being looked at by TSSAA for recruiting violations with the Campbell County transfers.
    • I heard from a member of the teaching staff that there has been a dispute over use of the game field between football, and girls lacrosse team. Girls had a game and wanted to warm up and football coaches did want to leave. The football coaches came down hard with some bad vulgar language and the girls lacrosse backed down. What a classy act BHS athletics has become.
