They do? I think it’s great that this county has at least one good team. All them softball rings and football ones. It’s almost like Carthage has an inferiority complex seems like.  You’d think with a 69-21-2 record against a 1A powerhouse they’d be proud of that. But nooo… seems like all they are mad about is 2 1A State championships.

If it's not much of a rivalry, then bragging right don't mean anything. Regardless of the overall record, it's still a rivalry, and Gordonsville has won more in recent years.

We’re proud to be from GHS and they’re proud to be from SCHS. Some get a little emotional this week and to some it’s just another game. Fact is we’re both proud of our communities and schools and most of us are friends and probably won’t be hostile towards each other any more the rest of the year. If you’re not from Smith County you may not understand it. I’m glad every year when this game is over. Hopefully we’ll get to see an exciting, injury free game.

Wow..Carthage had 5 shutouts in a row from  1953 to 1957 and again from 1960 to 1964 and 33 total shutouts
