A lot of history going back to the 1970s. It’s homecoming for the Blueraiders and redbank come in as their only loss to Rhea county. Both teams are talented. Kobe Smith is a stud on the wrestling mat and on the field who could make a huge impact. Cleveland comes in after 2 huge wins the last couple weeks: this one could be Interesting.

You do know that Cleveland is modeled after Red Bank? As well as the colors? When Cleveland was in the design phase this is what they wanted it to look like. Colors and all. Administrators went and visited several of the Chattanooga schools and Red Bank stood out. So that's how the plans for Cleveland came about. So yeah, a lot of history between these two schools. Football and wrestling wise. Haha. Coach Al Miller came from Red Bank. EK Slaughter was an assistant on the football team while I was an assistant on the wrestling team. Brian Thompson was from Red Bank as well. And records need to be corrected as well? '92 They (Sportswriters and such) have us losing to Red Bank in the second round of the playoffs. Not true. We beat them like a drum that year. They had Nakia Walker and we shut him down. That playoff game is what ultimately landed us in the Knoxville Region the following year.  Wanna talk about still a thorn in our side? We lost the State Championship my Sr year to those guys in wrestling. We were runners-up. Not saying if i placed higher we would've beat them. But it would've helped. We went and somewhat practiced with them over Christmas break in '94 and Coach Miller had to open up their own practice room. They were late. Haha...Never lost to Ed Chubb (State Champ) that year. 2-0 career wise against him. Sorry for the wrestling post. But yes, there is a lot of history there.

I think if Cleveland can keep carrying that momentum then i see them beating Red Bank? But you can never count out a Gatewood team. 42-21 Cleveland?

Interested to see how this turns out. Everything tells me that Cleveland will win this game easily, but Red Bank is always a game that every team circles on their schedule. I view this as a trap game going into it for Cleveland, especially after coming off of a huge win against region opponent Farragut. I still think Cleveland wins by 2-3 scores. Would not be surprised if this game comes down to the end though.

Farragut was 2 weeks ago, I’m sure they have moved past it.

    • Yeah, but if he goes to Science Hill they are guaranteed at least a win over Kingsport and that's basically the NET Superbowl
    • I expect Sevier County might be pretty good, perhaps Mo West as well.     But I don't see either of them getting out of round 2.          The rest of the region gets smoked in round 1.            Except for those once-in-a-blue-moon anomaly years the NET big schools are pretty much the same every season.
    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
