If this is correct you should never lose a game in 2A football.

He’s good but! There’s also 10 other kids on the team to depend on. He’s a junior. Next year he may be that category but not quite there this year as in top 3-5 best backs in Tennessee.

ER hasn’t played a team as athletic as MC and MC hasn’t played a team as Athletic as ER. Gonna come down to the big boys. I’ll say ER Dline has the advantage but Oline probably points to MC. I think it’s gonna be a good one.

I'm not sure I'd give the OL nod to Marion. As far as Groves I'd say from film he's faster than Pickett.

Hopefully those teams on the schedule from the early part of the season helps prepare for East. Brainerd, Central, Tyner, etc.... are full of athletes that can break one on any given play.

That’s true, those are athletic teams. Closest thing east has seen to Marion is their scout team. Now that I think about it, it scares me.

Marion has played athletic teams all year kinfolk. You are off your rocker. Tyner, Brainerd, East Ridge, Central and Fayetteville all have athletes. Athletes aren’t going to beat Marion. Coaching and physical style of play might but ER has neither. I am just keeping it real

marion needs to get in front. they are more grinding. ER could run away if they get a lead. i dont think marion would run away

Corrected myself… ER has coaching and if you watch the film they are more physical than you think. ER coaching was the reason for their success last year.

If ER had coaching they would have ran their competition off the field. ER has more legit D1 kids on their team than anyone else in the East and they could only put 7 points on the board against Smith County. Gordonsville offense fared better against Smith. Beat Westmoreland by 1 point. Y’all have no excuses kinfolk. I am just keeping it real. I got Marion by 14. Remember what I said. I will happily eat crow if i’m wrong but #4 is liable to score more points than ER whole team. I’m just keeping it real.

If the Marion team that showed up to play Forrest this year then yes. If the Marion team that boat raced Sequatchie shows up then no. Everybody including many of their own fans are sleeping on MC. They should’ve been in this spot last year but apparently they had some growing pains to go through. I’m just keeping it real

ER also has 6 sophomores on both sides of the ball and 1 freshman. So growing pains at the beginning of the year hurt. Look at the last 4 games. They have blown competition out the door. Just keeping it real.

ER is likely the youngest team in the playoffs in the east. Freshman QB…gonna struggle early… 3 first year starters on the Oline. Offense returned 3 Starters from last year…#67, #66, #9. None of the Groves started on offense last year. Growing pains were expected. Defense is young as well with only 3 or 4 seniors out there.

Doesn’t bond well for what’s coming Friday. Marion has a lot of upperclassmen. Hard to win with Freshman come November. I am just keeping it real

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
