just wondering :When and where did this crazy tradition of when a player is introduced before the game, the player goes and fist bumps the referees then goes and fist bumps the opposing coaches. One game i saw the players even fist bumping all the people at the scorers table. What will be next the player going through the stands fist bumping all the fans.  I just think this is alittle crazy and we should get back to the way it used to be

I’ve known people who have been following Lady Dawgs basketball since Holly Warlick played point guard for us, and they said it’s been a thing for a while, maybe not a fist pump but a simple handshake or just a nod of appreciation. It’s always been a thing to acknowledge the referees and people at the score tables. I even knew about some players who used to fist bump or high-five the entire student section before games, so the fan part has already happened, sort of.

Does it really bother you that much? What is crazy about showing some good sportsmanship? What I think is more ridiculous is all these handshakes/dances they want to do. Just run out when your name is announced and move along.

It hasn’t always been a thing. I don’t know when it started but no one did that when I was young through high school. I’m not saying it bothers me in any way. Just stating it wasn’t always a thing.

Well, I don’t know what you want to high school, but it may have started in the Knoxville area before it spread to other counties.

I'm just a little south of Waker, and as far back as I can recall when you stood from the bench, you (at the time) met the coach by the scorers table with a quick handshake. Just for context, the "fist bump" was still years in the future at the time. Don't recall officials being involved back then...there were only two, and I believe that they were out around center court.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
