I agree 100%. Some of the players that I thought were going to step up and have a huge season haven't so far. I know they've only played 2 games, but they need to be more aggressive and physical. Will Presley is just about the only guy I've seen consistently play with passion and with a purpose.
I have watched a lot of high school football over the years and witnessed a lot of crazy things happen in high school football. Let me add another memory to my already scattered brain.
This past Friday night Tyner played McMinn County at Ooltewah High School because there is a lot of construction going on at Tyner. Thats the beginning of a weird night. The second thing that was weird was that there were only 5 officials. So, you had 2 officials in the back field, 2 line judges and one in the secondary. No umpire in his normal position around the linebackers. No one keeping the play clock. You have one back judge trying to cover the entire secondary! The crew appeared to be struggling with penalties and at times seemed to be like a bunch of rejects. They didn't know or should I say struggled with were to spot the football. One time the runner clearly went out of bounds at the 2 and they spot the ball at the 4. Someone did a poor job assigning the officials to this particular. I don't know whether to blame the Chattanooga area assigner or the TSSAA. It was a joke and an embarrassment to the football officials that do a good job.
Regardless the TSSAA needs to look into this and make certain this never happens again!
If they are still having discipline issues, then it will more than likely continue for the rest of the season. Clinton went through the same thing and theirs lasted all season long. Its like having a bad habit or playing with poor technique. If the coaching staff doesn't make discipline a priority at practice, then it will keep rolling over into the games.
I hope Cleveland can get it straightened out because they have the talent to make it deep into the playoffs, but if they are not disciplined, they won't make it far on just talent alone.
Good luck to you guys!
I started the year thinking we were going to be down from last year, but I'm not so sure now. Our line seems better on both sides of the ball. Linebackers are killing it and our jump from game one to game two seemed extraordinary.
#5 is a really great player. If he develops his passing skills a little more and spread out some of the better defenses we will face. The team will have a much easier time putting up points.
Don't watch baseball, but that's awesome.
