Story time with uncle Crow! The story of how Oneida came to be a “mini UT” is interesting and not widely know. I will give some highlights and also give the disclaimer that I will probably miss a few details or possibly just flat out get something wrong but the broad strokes as I’ve been told are this. Back in the day the Oneida colors were blue, yellow and white but the equipment was quite worn and needed replacing. Like a lot of schools in the 50’s (I believe that’s the correct time period) money wasn’t readily available. As luck would have it the Oneida coach was a recent former UT player/graduate and still was connected to the university some way. Lots of details being left out but long story short there was a load of old equipment that found its way up here to supply the Oneida program. Of course the catch was obviously the colors didn’t match so the colors were changed to orange and white and many of the Oneida traditions that are still in place today were started as a tip of the hat for their assistance and are either a version of or in some cases a direct copy of the university’s traditions.
To quote Mike Rowe,
Anyway, that’s the way I heard it.
Just a lot of people on here that haven't seen SP play this year and going on what has happened in previous history. This year team is young and with the exception of a few guy's we are a smaller for sure and need to get in the weight room in the off season and work hard. I think if we are lucky and get some breaks we can hold it to a close game and maybe get beat like 14-21 points..
