Without the mistakes from City I think this one would have been a one or two score game. Not going to say anymore about it. The W is all that matters. I appreciate the hard work from the kids and coaches. Safe travels back home and try to go 1-0 next week in the valley.

Mistakes on both sides though to be honest. Missed a TD throw right before the interception at the end of the half. The turnover on the 1st possession in the redzone to start the 2nd half. I haven't seen City play this year but the Warriors didn't play well tonight. 2 late scores against the freshmen and sophomores made it look closer than it was.

Didn’t think Marion played very well at all. U can’t call a mistake on missed td throw bc u can say same thing about other team missed throws. Marion was the much better team but u can’t have over 200 yards in penalties and have close game with anyone. Marion will be fine everyone has a game like this will help them in long run

just give us until next year. our team is loaded with sophomores and juniors. 14 will be a good qb following willoughby. if we get this next hire right, we might make a run the next 2 years

You may be right. We took our lumps with younguns a couple years ago. I saw some good things for City in the future.

City just couldn’t get anything going , and when they did , they’d have horrible penalties. O-line really struggled ( ill chalk it up to them being a super young group)

for Marion county, this game should be an indicator to their fans that a 2nd or 3rd round exit is in their future, this is NOT a state title contender

We are our own worst critics and Marion played terrible last night for sure, but it was 37-6 in the 4th before the starters went out. Who in the east puts them out?

    • Worst thing SC could do is get rid of Dyer. I agree with everything said above.
    • Jada Hart, Jasmine Bailey and Kaitlyn Patterson the first two being PG's are all good guards and can handle ball pressure and are good players. Raven Wells will be a good post. There were games this summer where any one of the one's I mentioned were in double figures. Gibson County will control TO's much better this year and they will press more and get back to playing faster. AA is down across the board. I have been all over watching ball. Alcoa jumped to AAA and Jackson County moved down. to A. No telling who wins it this year. I agree Union City, Westview and Gibson County will be a dogfight and must see basketball. Poster insuated that Gibson County has a mental block against Westview. Well give me Maddie Gray and we line up last year and they wouldn't have won a game. Let's see how Westview does this year. Their starting five last year had three transfers in it. Rogers from Obion, Trevathon from Greenfield and Gray from South Fulton. Looks like they swung and missed with the girl from Florida this year so let's see how they do playing with kids from Westview. Gibson County has a really good 7th grade class this year.I have done learned you play with what you got and work them hard and develop them and see what happens. Just keep battling and see what happens. I like our team this year. Very athletic. Every year is the same with injuries and can be catistrophic to any. I watched GC all summer long. South Side and GC was very evenly matched and was a classic war. Hope all stays healthy.
    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
    • My take on GC for this year: Based on what I saw last year and heard this summer, I’m not sure GC could surprise me next year with any outcome. Wilkins is a great coach - they could win the district and region and go to Murfreesboro. They could also come in third in the district and not get out of region. The two returning starters are very talented but Guru is right that they didn’t always play hard last year. The other three starters are good enough in their roles for GC to be successful. There is no depth. Foul trouble could be a problem - Wilkins may avoid it by playing a lot of zone. An injury would be catastrophic. I hope they have a big year and Wilkins rides off into the sunset in Murfreesboro because, without some significant transfers, there are some tough years coming in the next few.
    • Daniel Boone coming down to 3A makes this much tougher. They added a couple transfers to the Flores girl. Cocke Co, Northview, Greeneville, and Daniel Boone - only two headed to Murfreesboro.
