I did wrestle floyd in the northeast finals in the 98-99 season and in another tournament the year before

I wrestled John Smith at camp at Ok. St. and he beat my brains out. As for the best high school wrestler it would have to be Jonathan Leddy, I wrestled him twice my senior year at 189 and i got pinned once and lost 7-4 once. He was definitly the best 189 i've seen in a while.

HBK19 - Do you mean Allan Coors, the 1979 and 1980 state champ from Morristown? I wrestled with him in college. He is a great guy. His finals match in 1980 with Charles Key of McCallie was the most anticipated of the tourney. Both guys were defending state champs with Key moving up a weight from his junior year. 2 of the most muscular light weight guys ever. They got into a scramble right off the whistle, and Allan ended it with a quick pin as the crowd exploded.

strangely enough, I never wrestled the guy....he was a 103, and I was a 112.

if my memory serves, he beat Bryan Bath of Ryan in 95, and I was there when he beat Emon Shokhooi from Kirby in 96.

i wrestled a guy with elephantitis and his 125lb legs dominated me. i think he was a one or two time state champ. if anyone knows exactly, i'd like to know.

You are correct, An excellent 2 time state champion from east of the Tn river. Patterson joins Carter Davis St. Champ 1971 185lb. Morristown East 2 champions that won 3 st. champioships.

 

Koors was a 2x Champion at Morristown West. Pete Bednarzik was West's other state champion 185lb.

 

Interesting note Coach Bill Brimer who coached Bednarzik has coached all 5 of Greenevilles St. champions over the past 6 years. (Lowery 119, Barner 185,Garrett135, Riddle 215
