Maryville has to be the biggetst joke in the state. They have one player that is descent the rest are a bunch of junior varsity players. Once tournament time starts and they run into some real teams they will fold just like they did last year. They can't compete with the White Station, Cleveland and Bradley Centrals of the state. In one way i do hope they make it to state so everyone will see how bad they will be embarassed.

Houser is playing D-1 next year, mid major but better than most kids, and gaskin and tipton are not just JV palyers they are pretty good, Tipton may be playing college ball and gaskin will play football somewhere, but they are not just an average team. And how can you just say humphrey is just descent that is a dumb comment descent players dont go to FL why did you make this post?

Houser is not a D-I player. Where is he going to play D-I ball? He is NAIA or JUCO at best Roane St.. Cleveland St., Walters St. etc... I will agree that Humphrey is a nice player and Tennesse missed the boat on him and Maryville does has a good team. But I don't see them getting out of the region. Maybe sub state at best because District 3 is so weak.

I don't know much but one thing I do know. Murvul is no joke. Lee makes them great. Without him... they would merely be very very good at best. They have a chance to win every night regardless of who they play. Very intense program!!! I would say the entire athletic program is pretty sound right now - but that would be the understatement of the century.

HAHA...this is funny! Drew Houser is already pretty much verbally comitted to a D1 school so how can you say he's not a D1 player? Northern Arizona...a Division 1 college is his number one pick. Dayton University, University of Idaho, and Tennessee Tech are all up there...all D1. Washington University is the best D3 in the nation and they are interested in him. He got much more attention after the Arby's Classic from many more schools. He's probably one of the best white jumpers in the nation, I'd like to see an American high school senior outdunk him! Gaskin I see playing basketball, he's really turned it on, he's gone from good to great and he's only getting better. Andy Tipton still hasn't stopped growing both up and out, he's going to be a force inside. I think we have 4 out of 5 going to D1 schools, no matter how small...they are still D1. Ohh yea, and that big joke is ranked like 6th in the state, they have lost 1 instate game, if thats a joke I think you need to get your sense of humor restructured!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
