Ippon, as usual, the talent's in place, the coaching is there and the tradition is strong for McCallie. McCallie will be fine this season. Your main competition will be Baylor. You're right, the 2001 team had outstanding talent but they also had some predictable tendencies. Their biggest mistake, however, was taking the Irish for granted. It was supposed to be a sure win except there were some very fine, but far less heralded, players on that Catholic team who played very hard and, frankly, got very lucky at exactly the wrong time for McCallie. Last year the teams were fairly evenly matched. This year, I'd give the edge to the Blue Tornado. We'll see. In Chattanooga, its McCallie and Baylor at the top.

Shooter I have no idea who you are, which is strange since you know me. I didn't play for United two years ago, only indoor with them. I think that you are some loser from mccallie (note: i have many many friends at mccallie so i'm not generalizing in this case, only that they can also produce some arrogant and cocky people) who is upset off for something that happened last year. Also if you are so big and bad tell everybody on here who you are.

the best team in chattanooga will prolly be whichever privates that comes out on top this year(mccallie or notre dame in my opinion) but i feel the best public school will be ooltewah. they finally have a coach who knows what hes doing and they've always had some good athletes. plus they have a mental edge over their whole disrict since no one other than soddy in the region finals. even came close last year ... and i know what you're thinking... no it doesn't matter that they lost all those stud seniors. they're still too good for the other publics.

im not sure if csas is considered public or not but if they are then i think they have a edge over ooltewah. ooltewah lost 90% of there talent from last year... actually just 1 player justin givens. csas returns about 4 players that stand out that are very skilled. that is just my opinion though considering i played against both teams last year and know who they lost.

Im not sure about all the other classifications but i can try. For A-AA i would think the top 2 would be (not in any order) CCS, Ridgeway. As much as i hated losing to ccs yall always found a way to win and are always a top contender. I dont see yall having a problem makin it to memphis this year. your biggest challenge will be csas to get there. Just watch out for Sweetwater, haha. as for AAA i would think bearden and farragut will both be up there. those teams still have some very strong players. i use to play against a lot of them during club season when i played in knox. Bearden has all there goal scorers back i know but we will have to see how there defense holds out. Farragut has one really good forward returning also. D2 i have no clue about.

im pretty sure csas is considered private but i don't know for sure... and yeah ooltewah did lose alot of talent but i wouldn't say 90%. they still have a quality keeper and 3 out of 4 defenders return.also a strong midfield is returning. not to mention a huge upgrade in coaching ability this year. but you might be right csas could be better than ooltewah ... i don't know we never played them while i was there.

    • And that needs to go, Charter ,private ,magnet, city and any school that operates differently than pure public schools should be separated. What really needs to be done is address urban and rural. About all the usual powers have access to several kids from other schools period.
    • Sad deal. Hate it. So the coach that kicked her off is now fired??
    • Slightly off topic from a gender standpoint but just observed several boys volleyball games in the Knoxville area for a short spring season. The guys seemed to have a great time. There were several club players on each team but several football, basketball and tennis players involved. Knoxville Catholic, Maryville, Heritage, Knoxville West maybe William Blount had teams. Thanks to Coach Brent Carter from Knoxville Catholic/K2 for getting it together. I’m sure the coaches involved got several laughs trying to coach guys that really had no idea what they were talking about but pretty athletic and competitive. Catholic’s best basketball player told the coach he had played a lot of 2:3 and 1:3:1 but never a 3:3 LOL Maybe it will catch on with some more schools next year.
