Maryville wins big because they have a great coaching staff. George Quarles is a offensive mastermind,David Ellis is one of the top offensive line coaches,Jim Gaylor is defensive coordinator and used to be Clinton's high school head coach,Wayne Thompson,Joe Pinkerton,Joe Robinette,Mark Humphrey and Mike White. They are great guys! Players love them and respect them. The kids come out because they like the coaches.

 

In the late 80s and early 90s John Olive was liked by his players but his assistants weren't. Lots of kids quit football because they didn't like some of the coaches that were coaching. I know the numbers during that time was about 40 players. Now you see 80.That makes a huge difference. A big part of high school coaching is getting the kids to come out and keeping them out.Our coaches now are doing a great job of that.

I will agree that Maryville has great coaching, facilities, players, and support. It sounds like they need a new challenge. Go to another region, better yet go to 5 A, or maybe try D-II.

YA KNOW YOU CAN SIT THERE AND SAY ALL YOU WANT BUT YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.....MARYVILLE IS A POWERHOUSE AND AND NEVERS GETS BAD THEY JUST RELOAD.....MARYVILLE HAVE BEATEN THE NUMBER ONE RANKED 5A STATE CHAMPOINS MANY TIMES.....DOBYNS BENNET, REDBANK, DOBYN BENNET AGAIN MOVING UP TO 5A WOULD JUST MAKE MARYVILLE LOOK EVEN BETTER....LAST YEAR THEY WERE GOOD BUT THEY LOST THERE STARTING QUARTERBACK AND I SOPHMORE TOOK THEM TO THE STATE CHAMPOINSHIP....JUST THINK WHAT WOULD HAV HAPPENED IF THEY HADNT LOST THERE STARTER..IT WOULD BE UNBELIEVEABLE...HE IS COMING BACK ANYWAYS AND YOU WILL SEE. LET JUST KEEP OUR MOUTHS SHOOT BILLY GOAT AND JOHNPAUL YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT AND OBVIOUSLY BY THE UNINTELLEGENT REMARKS ABOUT FOOTBALL....THERE IS OTHER BOARDS LIKE CHEERLEADING AND GOLD MAYBE YOU GUYS SHOULD CHECKS THOSE OUT, YOU COULD POSSIBLEY MAKE YOUR SELFS LOOK BETTER

BILLYGOAT YOU ARE SO RETARDED I SKIPPED THREW THE PAGES AND DIDNT READ YOUR LITTLE REMARK ABOUT A COUPLE KIDS WORKING HARD IN THE KNOXVILLE AREA....WELL A COUPLE DOESNT CUT IT...THE WHOLE TEAM HAS TO WORK HARD JUST LIKE MARYVILLES AND WE DONT HAVE TRANSFERS...WE HAVE KIDS THAT WANT TO PLAY FOR A GOOD TEAM. PLUS I DONT EVEN THINK THERE IS ONE KID THAT IS A TRANSFER AND PAYS TUITION THAT STARTS, ANOTHER GREAT COMMENT BY BILLYGOAT..MARYVILLE PLAYERS GET UP AT 5 OCLOCK EVERYDAY IN THE SUMMER TO DO THERE WORKOUTS.. THE COACHES MAKE THEM KNOXVILLE KIDS HAVE PROBABLY NEVER EVEN SEEN THE SUN RISE....
