It looks from the scores, other than the win against Wilson Cty. that the Cavs are not hitting the ball. What is the problem?

Is the curse of not facing live pitching during the bad winter months catching up with us, or do we have a fundamental problem with hitting?

What is the schedule for the Cavs in Orlando?

It was a great trip. Won one and lost two and the other was rained out. Tough week upcomming starting with Wilson Central on Monday. Then home and away with Oakland on Tuesday and Wendesday. Then the Warrior Classic in Rutherford County starting on Thursday and going through Saturday. It's going to be a tiring and busy week. Hopefully they will get the district started off right with some wins.

it seems that no one on the cavs team wants to swing the bat. and when they do its at bad pitches. someone on that team needs to step up and say something and get something good started. i sure feel sorry for coach Hunt who is putting all this time and effort into a team that doesn't seem like they even want to be out there. sounds like a typical cookeville team, talk trash about all the talent they have, which they really do have, but then when it comes down to it no one wants to step up and be a leader. then they fold up and quit when things r going bad.

Have the Cavs and coaches given up? Can't even get a response anymore on this message board from anyone. What has happened in Cookeville and baseball. Has the years of coaching changes finally paying it's terrible dividends? Are the older players not able to compete with their competiton? I know the pedigree of the coaching staff and they have the goods and experience to one day bring a winner to Cookeville. What is the problem?

the problems in cookeville started about 6 years ago when the community let a local doctor, who was disgruntled over lack of playing time for his son, and two school board members bent on revenge, walk into the office of the then spineless principal and demand a coaching change or face a resulting scandal. the school board members were bluffing, but the jellyfish principal gave in and the result was the eventual resignation of the best high school baseball coach in the state of tennessee. until the cookeville community puts an end to all the many cooks that are in the kitchen the cavalier athletic program, these problems will continue. no one wants to coach in an evironment where parents and community leaders strong arm school administrations. cookeville high school has one of the best high school coaches in the southeast teaching in the building everyday. the problem is that butch chaffin is not on the baseball field. and if he never goes back, who could blame him. somebody tell me if i am wrong!!!!

    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
