It sure is hard to say anything about any team now with the weather like it has been. It's hard to get around and see what everyone has when everyone's stuck inside.

As for Ooltewah, they're not as old and experience as they have been the last 2 or 3 years. They've got some younger guys coming up that will definately give the older guys some motivation to work a little harder.

Pitching staff should be deep barring any injuries. The experience of senior righty Will Spann will probably lead the staff. Senior right-hander Adam Trent, who took last year off due to personal reasons is back and throwing very hard. He now needs to work on throwing strikes, but has A LOT of potential come season time. There are a handful of other pitchers, young and old, who will see plenty of innings.

As for the lineup, who knows. As said earlier, the more experienced players are being pushed awfully hard by the younger guys. So we'll see how that turns out.

No matter what though, the coaching pair that heads up Ooltewah baseball is great. They expect nothing less than 100% from their players, and they really know the game. Not only good coaches, but good teachers of the game as well.

Team should be very competitive with state competition.

i love baseball season growing up as a kid baseball was my favorite sport and it still is i just wish i still played but oh well... i am excited about this year basball season for the owls many owl baseball players are sayin state.. with the pitching staff potential they have i am not doubting that prediction.. they still have a long ways to go but they are looking good after 2 early scrimages against lookout valley and rhea county!! I know a litle about Ooltewah baseball this year, and I think this year is going to be a continuation of last years' winning ways. It took a few games last year for the Owls to get comfortable playing under the new leadership. The team is young, but balanced with just enough older guys to mix talent with experience. I think the lineup is still up for grabs and depends on the next few weeks of scrimmages. Pitching is deep. Should be best team in district.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
