This team will be hard pressed to defend its title, the big games were won by their seniors last year, mainly Matt Scott and Chris Camp, just look at the region tourney and sub-state game from last year. Revis plays every game so close to the vest that he does not develope his younger players...also with a meager JV schedule and no freshman schedule the younger kids do not get alot of playing time...If the truth were known, Mike Holman deseves as much credit for bringing the state title to LaVergne last year as Craig Revis.

If the story is true, the principal deserves a lot of the credit because he would not sign a zone exemption for Matt Scott to go to Smyrna. That was the second big step, the first was hiring Coach Reavis. I'm sure this Holman raised some money and help improve the facilities but had nothing to do win a state title.

First off a good principal takes the name of any person wanting a zone exemption to the coach before signing. The coach knows the area kids. Coach Reavis apparently can groom young talent. When he got their LaVegrne had never won more than they lost. Then in back to back years went to the final four winning it once. These kids all came to the program as Freshman and played for teams in the spring and summer for Reavis. So I would say he does a great job developing talent because no one else could do it at LaVergne. Not Tullahoma's coach nor the McGavok assistant the son of the great Mel Brown could win at LaVergne but Reavis has.
