MLREB,  That freshman class will be special.

Running back is loaded with Adrian Baker and Ryan Singleton. Those guys will be special! Both guys are close to 180lbs already.

Receiver position will be strong led by Tyler Maples. Tyler is a speed demon like his older brother Ryan.

Offensive line will be solid with Lewis Darrus and Matt Huskey.

Quarterback will be a 3 man fight with Taylor Akins,Derrick Hunt and Ryan Risor. I know Derrick and Taylor personally. I told both those young men that they have a good opportunity in front of them.Coach Quarles will make good quarterbacks out of all 3 of those young men.

Defensive End is set with TJ Franklin and Josh Merion.

Defensive Tackles will be the offensive linemen

Linebackers will be the strength of this class. Joseph Miranda was born to be a linebacker. His dad( Ralph Miranda)played at Notre Dame when Joe Montana was there and owns the Maryville Invaders semipro football team. Miranda has perfect technique on his tackling. Tanner Caylor will knock your head off. Ryan Singleton and Adrian Baker are headhunters also.

Tyler Maples will lead the secondary.

There are probably other good players I left off this list. I don't know all the players yet.

When I saw Coach Ellis a few weeks ago he told me he was looking forward to coaching this class.

I can see a lot of 3 year starters in this group.

I drove by the Middle School the other day and saw the Middle school team practicing. I wonder how good they will be? I hear the stud in that class is Wes Lambert. His dad is Maryville College basketball coach Randy Lambert.

Let me see if I can help you out a little on this group.

Best athelete of the group is Ryan Reiser. Ryan may play some QB next year but will ultimately end up at DB or WR. Ryan has good speed, not quie as good as Maples, great hands, nose for the ball, and great field vision. He is a better RB than Singleton but didn't get the oppotunity in MMS.

Maples is blessed with speed and good vision but his hands are just good, not on the Reiser level. Tyler still needs to grow a little, and he will, to guarentee his success at the highschool level. Tyler works hard and is driven. Most likely a better basketball player than football but outstanding at both.

Singleton......IMO will end up at LB. Good speed and great size but will not stick it in the hole. That is where Reiser is better. R. Singleton will grow some more and could be a protege LB in a couple years.

J. Miranda - Has most of the tools to be a great linebacker. Only question is speed. He has worked with a trainer for a couple of years so that issue is being worked on. Technique, knowledge, and the intangables of the postion are his strong points.

Adrain Baker (Tank).....IMO the only kid in the freshman group that has a chance to help the highscool team next year. Tank is as fast as Maples and carries about 170 to 180 lbs. Tank is only about 5"8, or 5'9" now but will grow more. Tank has a lot of ability and an outstanding work ethic. He has a chance to be special either as a RB or a LB.

QB Posiion..........IMO there will be only one or -0- QB's out of this group. Reiser will end up at WR and or DB. I have watched Akins at Mary Blount and been around him some this summer and their is no way he plays QB at Maryville unless he matures both mentally and athletically. The only one left is Hunt who has played QB for 7 years now. The only question is arm strength but his leadership, knowledge of offense, Maryville's offense that is since he has been working with an EX Maryvile QB NG, work ethic, and ability to manage a team is excellent. He has also been working with a speed, strength, and agility trainer for over a year now and the difference in his athletic ability is obvious. He has also grown from 4' nother to 5'9" ccurrently. If he does not work out at QB then most likely will be WR or DB

Josh Burchete - Most likely the fastest kid in the group that is blessed with speed. Josh is a step faster than maples and has good height and body. He has to develope his hands to be a WR but may end up on D-fense. He is a big hitter as are several out of this group.

Lineman - Darius has the biggest upside. Lewis has good size, strong, ahletic kid with great feet. He also has the lineman metality and loves to mix it up. Justin Huskey is also a nice lineman and has size, athletic ability, and a great work ethic. T.J. Franklin is huge. T.J. Needs to improve on his agility and his psyche, gets upset too easily, but he is an imposing figure on the field and can run for a big kid. The line is in good shape with excellent size and athletic ability. Ellis will enjoy this group.

Tanner Caylor - Unbelievable how far Tanner has come since he was 8. Loves the game and plays with great emotion. Tanner is a devastating tackler that only knows one speed. Size and speed are good but determination is off the chart. Tanner gives it up for his team and will quickly become a fan favorite on Friday nights.

Most in this group has been playing together since they were eight. Expectations are high but IMO the will need some leadership to step up if they are to achieve success. Many hard workers and good athletes in the group so it should be interesting.

Re: the Middle school team - This is a very athletic group but have very little size. They are loaded at the skilled postiions and have a very good QB, Johnny Wiggins. Johnny is not the starer but he will play QB in ghschool, guarentee. Johnny is one of the better QB's to come through the Maryville youth team ranks. The Middle school coach ha a tendencyto put kids out of position but fortunately they are given good guidance in highschool.Unfortunately Wes Lambert has decided to not play football and follow the path of his brother Jason Wes will stick to basebal and basketball. Too bad because football is Wes's best sport.

Forgot to mention additional rising 8th graders but you are right about Stephen Shiver. They currently have him at QB, which is a major waste of SS's time because he will never play QB in highschool, but he will be a defensive end and or a tight end in highschool. I very seriously doubt Stephen will be at a skill position but will definately get a look at WR. Realistically Stephen will be 6'5 to 6'7" when he is a senior. Stephen has good athletic ability and gives a great effort. He has a chance to be special.

here are some names to remember

Caleb Clement - yessss another Clement but a little tougher version

Nick Shields - Currently Nick is one of the top wrestlers in the country a his weight. Nick hasn't lost in 5 years.

Jordan Hasney - Linebacker - Fullback

Cody McCoy - This kid has jets and is tough as nails.

Cooper? - Not sure of his first name but is the top RB on the team. I may have his name wrong.

Travis Webb - Good hands at wie receiver and a good athlete.

Losing my train of thought now but this group is fine athletically but will need some size

Please note that the these posts represents MHO based on a few years observance. They are by no means posted as fact.

MLREB, It looks like you are a wealth of knowledge.

I have another question. How good do you think Josh Merion will be? I used to work with his dad. I thought he played well in the MMS games last year.

My nephew played little league baseball with Wiggins. I know he is fast.

Honestly, I'm not as familiar with Josh as I am with the others. I do know that the coaches are high on him. Not sure where he will end up but certainly not as an interior lineman. Most likely an end on offense or defense.

Wiggins is a special player. Very smart, athletic, and has an excellent arm. He throws a nice ball to catch. He just started growing so he will be OK in HS. Unfortunately the Middle school coaches consentrate on the "big" kids that have already hit their growth spurt. The know little about the heart and past of most of their players. I have saw many kids out of position at the middle school level. Last years group had a very good team standing on the sideline most of the time. I was concerned that a few that will be outstanding in highschool when they mature would not come back. Fortunately they have so the news is good on the returnees. Regardless the coaches work hard with the kids and are morally outstanding.

One other name to remember with the Freshman group is Chriser Campbell. Chriser gave up football last year but I am hearing he may be back next year. Criser was one of the top players with this group as a linebacker. Big strong kid with speed and loved to hit. I think he struggles with the commitment.

I'm all out of info so I hope that helps.

Thanks for the update MLREB and Rebelron. Looks like we're in pretty good shape for years to come. I think Joseph Miranda's little brother Nathan, is one everybody better keep their eyes on.

It's interesting that all the kids we have who have fathers that played or coached in D-1 football. We have former Vol TE Jeff Smith and his 3 sons, UT DL coach Dan Brooks and his son Rhett, and now Miranda and his sons, all in the Maryville system.

As for andykellysfan, how bad is Cleveland goin' to spank the Golden Eaglets this year? Since MHS scored 63 and 74 on the Eaglets the last 2 times we have played in varsity and freshman action, I really wonder who needs to be writing checks that their #### can't cash??? Go Rebs.

I don't think Lendel Caldwell is playing. He didn't play in youth league and I'm not sure about last year. Regardless Lendel would have some major development to achieve to participate with this group.

Too bad about Wes Charleton. Wes is focusing on baseball. Don't be surprised to see Wes back on the field after the peer pressure starts to wear on him.

Also through the grape vine..............I have been told a big kid from Halls has moved into the neighborhood and will be a freshman next year. Also a move in from Indiana that will concentrate on baseball is being questioned about his desire to be a Rebel football player. Great looking kid that jacked one out at the 340 maker at Lakeshore two weeks ago. He also took one off the top of the fence the next time up. Not bad for a 14 year old.

I heard the same thing about a Halls kid moving in.

I would like to see that kid from Indiana play both football and baseball.

LOL...............Busted. Not trying to hide anyway. Best source is direct from the kids. I'm pumped with this group. Similar to the graduating seniors of 03. It was obvious a few years ago that the 03 group would be special. There is another class entering MMS in a couple of years that is as good as any. BTW.........give me a hint who this is.........Stars and Bars.
