What's Up

Cloudland Highlanders has a schedule that includes out of state (Virginia) regular games this season. The reason is because there are several teams that won't play us this year. Cloudland is good, and from what I understand (could be wrong but I call em like I see em)......several in-state teams in our region have opted not to play them, and we filled up our schedules with teams that would. Im a mom, not a rocket scientist.

My question is this: How will the out of state results affect our standings? How does TSSAA determine games lost or won when part of the season standings include out-of-state teams??

Pujo, you would probably be the one to help me out here.

Like she said, she,s only a mother. South Greene dropped us and now we will only be playing Hampton one time. Powell Valley moved up to 2a so they will not be in our region. Local schools don,t want to play us so we had to go shopping in Virginia. Should only make us better.

Where does Cloudland play Appalachia at? I work with some Appalachia fans. They told me that Appalachia has won several state titles. Appalachia should be a good test for Cloudland.

Cloudland should handle Rye Cove. JJ kelley is a pretty good football team.

Another powerhouse in that part of the state is Gate City.At least in the small school division. A former co worker used to tell me about that bunch. He said they are well coached. I think them and Cloudland would be a great game.

I agree with Pujo in that it will oly make the Landers stronger.

My biggest concern is how TSSAA is going to look at our record at the end of the regular season if part of our schedule includes out of state games.

I am cornfuzed! If the games are for fun and experience only, arent we missing official games that WOULD count? And if some teams choose not to play us, is it a forfeit for them?

Someone enlighten me! :o

    • What has this guy done to you that is so bad? I have spoken to him at one of the games this past year and he was very nice. I am not sure on his ability to coach.
    • I didn't make it up, I was told that by another coach.   I was just passing along what I was told.  Keep your shirt on there tough guy.
    • I see them and Oakdale struggling quite a bit the next few years. I see OS to be the powerhouse of the area for awhile. It all depends on how much Coalfield can recruit.
    • How did the scrimmage with Central go?
    • I’ve said it all year coalfield isn’t the same team as the last couple years. They have 3 really good players and another pitcher that throws low to mid 80s. Other than that, everybody else is average at best. You could make the argument that their lineup was the worst out of the 4 teams in their region tournament. Oakdale is really hot right now and playing well. Greenback was the second best team there. Wartburg was hitting it well but limped into the tournament with their center fielder being hurt and their best pitcher not being able to go on the mound for them was killer.
