Clark Duncan of Powell High School has resigned as head coach of the Panthers. He will be taking on an ASST. Principal and AD job at Knoxville South-Doyle High school.

even tho coach duncan has stressed over and over he was staying...most panther fans expected this!!!!!!

I wish him the best of luck. He was a class act all the way.

Coach Duncan will be missed. He always had well prepared teams with good sportsmanship. A loss to the Powell Community for sure.

Is there any chance that Coach Duncan could be positioning himself to become the next S.Doyle head coach? Those kids at Powell are losing a class act of a coach. His teams were always ready to play and did their talking with the pads instead of the mouth. As a coach in S.Doyle's region, I hope that Coach Duncan stays as an AD only.

No-He would not leave Powell to go to SD. Why would he want to rebuild? He made this choice years ago? And the opportunity presented itself. He is a class act.

No. Duncan is moving into administration permanently. If he still wanted to coach, he wouldn't have left Powell.

Who is the General until the new one is hired? Who is maintaining the field of dreams?

Obviously, the players were a bit stunned, but the fact that the assistant head coach is taking over the program as the new head coach does take some of the sting out of it. The players already know Coach Stephens and what to expect from him. Also, the entire staff will stay intact, so really other than Duncan not being there, everything else will remain basically status quo.

 

There will be one new assistant hired, taking the spot on the staff vacated by Duncan's move.

 

Stephens has already taken the reins.
