I got it from an athletic director. There are several different options and these options are based on the enrollment figures for 2002 I believe. There will be action taken by the TSSAA Legislative Council at their December meeting to decide if there will be a complete Private/Public split. Then they will go from there on how many classes in football. The new classification will be implemented for the 2005-06 school year. By late summer of 2004, the TSSAA will have districts and classifications set.

In 5 classes withput private schools, Smith County would be in Class AA (Region 4) with Jackson County, Westmoreland, Station Camp, Upperman, York, Cannon County and Marshall County. In the 4 classification setup, Smith County would be in Class AA (Region 9) with York, Jackson County, Upperman, Dekalb County and Cannon County. In the 5 classification multiplier setup (privates included), Smith County would be in Class AA (Region 4) with Westmoreland, Upperman, Friendship, York and Dekalb County.

Thanks...any of those would be suitable.

I see some serious mismatches hear and most of the teams in the current 6A aren't even mentioned here....Collinwood, Wayne Co, Moore Co, Mt. Pleasant, Cascade, Cornersville, public schools anyway.

I also talked with a friend of mine who is helping Mt Zion get there program going and he said they will be coming to 6A next year. Anyone hear anything about that?
