Not sure the exact game but University of Kentucky ran the "Quaterback, wtf are you doing, halfback direct"

Lorenzen was under Center and then pulled out and started walking towards teh sideline. The coach was yelling at him. As he approached the sideline a keyword was said and the center snapped the ball to #5 and he took it the distance around the other end. It was nice.

The Steelers run that one. Did it to the Titans a few weeks ago.

Dyer County used to run a "guard around" play that was basically like a reverse. They would either have a quick guard or put a back in at offensive guard for the play. When the ball was snapped, the offensive line would stalemate and the quarterback would put the ball on the ground beside the guard's foot before coming out from under center. Then the QB would fake a handoff, pass, or fake a fumble and while this had the defense's attention, the guard would pick up the ball and take off around the end, away from the QB's distraction. It was almost like a naked boot. You could count on them running it once or twice EVERY game. We actually practiced against the trick play in our weekly drills. It was dangerous, because it was really a fumble, but if the defense was napping, it could turn into a big play.

faninthestand just named your play. I wasn't sure how to spell it so I'll take faninthestand's spelling. The play where the QB sets the ball down by the guards foot is the Fumblerooski. I thought that play was banned or outlawed. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but that is what I was told.

How about the "Fumblerooski", Franklin pulled it on Hendersonville last year in the playoffs

Dyer Co's guard around was very similar to the fumblerooski.

We also ran a play where one of our receivers would pretend to be confused and then the coaches and sideline would start yelling for him to get to the sideline, that we had too many players on the field. He would sprint toward the sideline before the ball was snapped, but when he got outside the DB, the center would snap the ball and the QB would hit the receiver going up the sideline. We called the play "Screw-up." That was appropriate because it never worked. And, this was obviously before the "illegal participation--12 men in the huddle" rule was in effect.

the formation looked something like this (excuse the dots, they're the only way to get the spaces)

.................................................o...................................................

.XXXXX......................................X..................X..............................

...X..X............................................................................................

.............................................................X......................................

.................................................X..................................................

The center snapped the ball to the guy behind him. That guy then ran a sort of halfback option pass to the one guy to the right of the center with the other guy behind the center blocking. Worked like a charm, but any kind of defense would know to call timeout. Another option, if the defense doesn't defend the stack on the left, throw a hitch to one of the backs. There's no way to defend both options.

There are different versions of the Swinging Gate and it's usually used as a PAT formation. The version I've seen as most effective was only putting one back to the left behind the line, have the center with a back or receiver number, have a receiver split out to the right but off the line. This allows you to hit the back to the left, run the option with the back in the backfield, throw to the receiver split out to the right, or the hidden option which is the eligible center (since he is the last man on the line). Someone has to cover the center.

This didn't happen in high school but in the NFL in about 1997.

Minnesota Vikings had 4th down at mid field and lined up to punt like normal.

Ball was snapped, Gunner took off down the field like usual, but punter just threw the ball up in the air, attempting a pass to that gunner.

As you know the gunner and the defensive man were chicken fighting all the way down the field. thus defensive pass interference was called.

Never seen this play again. would be a great trick play for some team to run in playoffs.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
