OS91
Oliver Springs is without quesiton a top 10 team. THis goes to show you the bias of regional voting. Oliver Springs schedule speaks volumes. Additionally, Livingston Academy and Jackson County should place higher. JC plays one of the toughest schedules in the country, so they shouldn't be penalized when teams like Gibson County and others don't and have a better records. This is why JC mops the floors with teams come tourney time that have better records. It will all work out in the end. Also, South Greene is nowhere close to Oliver Springs ( but will get the AA votes out of the tri cities area)

CoachT
WriteStuff: One area of the site that I don't emphasize often enough but that you may already know about are the Won_loss Rankings They are only as accurate as our schedule and Scoreboard results, though. storm
Where is Westview they should be highly ranked. Gibson County deserves their ranking. I can't wait to see Westview and Trenton girls play. Wow, that's gonna be a great game. Play the tough games and get better. Good luck Chargers, Pioneers, and Lady Tide. accarp2614
I really also believe that OS should be in the top 10. I realize that a few others have harder schedules, but even so, OS has traded wins with LA this season and only has 2 losses. ACCARP
giginago41
i think seymour DOES deserve to be that high up...people dont give them enough reapect, but they work just as hard if not harder than everyone else out there. ya'll are talkin about teams like OS, but they got their butts handed to them byt Seymour by like 12 or 15 points... beehappi
Did'nt McMinn Central beat Seymour in a Hall of Fame game?
AFF
3. Another problem with the poll is some writers vote based on their region, regardless of how good the team really is. Some smaller newspapers will even rank their "hometown" team No. 1 just to get them in the poll. This is absurd, but it happens. You're exactly right & it's even worse in football.Football only has a top 5 poll because of the smaller number of schools per classification & it's difficult to break into that poll.As the seson goes on you'll see a team get a first place vote listed in the "also receiving votes" area. This happens in every classification despite the fact the strategy doesn't work because a first place vote is only worth 5 overall votes. If voters around the state don't vote for your team you don't make the top 5.I've heard voters actually admit they've done this on radio shows because they wanted the team to get recognized.Besides,in any sport, how can someone from Johnson City or Bristol know how good a team from Dyersburg or Memphis is & vice versa? ricky1958
A mathmatical system might be more accurate and more fun for the fans. There is a system offered on powerratingsonline.com. However, there are two main obstacles. 1. The cost is about a dollar a team and 2. It is difficult to find some scores around the state plus there is some time involved putting scores into the system. If all the newspapers joined together the costs could be minimal for each, and if the papers joined with CoachT all the scores could be reported and put into the system. For more information and examples including some Tennessee teams go to the web site mentioned above. Also, please inform others who could implement this idea. Bigcat20
I might be a little biased about this...but Oliver Springs should be Top 10. They only have lost 3 games. Seymour(Top 5), LA(Top 5), and Obion County. But also..they beat LA, and the Obion loss came the morning after a big win over Giles County. Thats my reasoning...but...Go Lady Cats!!! Also...does anyone know the site for the AP rankings?? For whoever answers...Thanks.
bball35
Seymour ranked 3rd....McMinn Central ranked 9th.....hmmmm and McMinn Central already beat Seymour this year and they are ranked THAT much behind them....shows you how much AP Polls mean
