CPA over DCA

CPA beat DCA in the final regular season game, finishing the season with a school record for wins and their first District regular season championship. They have now won 11 in a row against very good competition.

Tonight's game was tough as starter Hobgood was out sick (played only the last minute of the game) and senior House got in early foul trouble and only played about a half.

CPA hit a 3 at the buzzer to go up 3 at half. They ended the 3rd up 11 and led by 8-11 throughout the 4th until DCA hit a 3 at the buzzer to make the final margin 7.

CPA bench played well, but CPA wasn't very sharp and missed free throws late to keep the score as close as it was.

Congratulations, Lions! And congratulations to Travis Sikes for 1,000 points in a career as a junior and MVP of the district.

The only thing about Highschool basketball is that you can play like crap all season and then you play good come district tournament time then its all good. 9A seems to be very strong this season, I'm hoping 10A pulls something out of the sack like last season but besides NCS and McEwen I dont really see much happening.

Don't count out Houston Co., Davidson, or East Robertson just yet... HC beat a good AA Waverly team last night and almost beat another 10AA team in Cheatham Co. a few nights earlier. Davidson can control a game, will play hard-nosed defense, and also has some weapons on offense. East Robertson has a good big man in Swearingen and Fosnes can shoot. If anybody remembers last year's region tourney... they would know to not count any of these teams out just yet.
