TheBigRedDog
Just curious because the rest of the Super 7, except for BA and Baylor, have LAX teams. I can see why BA doesn't because its a much smaller school than the others, but Baylor is big. Lord knows they've got the resources and facilities for it. The only answers I can think of would be: (1) They have crew and fencing teams, giving them less people to draw from. (2) They want to start one, but it will be very difficult to catch up with McCallie for the first few years. Since Baylor is a boarding school too, it could get some kids from up north with LAX experience and maybe have a good team. Also, are any other Chattanooga schools planning on starting teams in the near future? Seems like most of the growth is in Middle Tennessee and Memphis. boogie95
Baylor actually had a team for three years during the early 90's, middle school and JV only. Traditionally a track powerhouse, Baylor found that the growing popularity of lax was siphoning some of their best athletes from the track program. Add that to the lack of lacrosse coaches and interest fromthe administration and it was "bye-bye" Baylor lax. plato
Actually Baylor had a lacrosse team for much longer than 3 years. They were actually not bad but there is no way they could keep up with the talent and coaching of McCallie. Plus, like was mentioned, lax was taking athletes from other sports and the AD at Baylor in his wisdom declared lax "no mas". They had a coach from up north somewhere (I think). soccerpro1
Baylor has a little more than half as many boys as McCallie to draw from. With track, baseball and soccer competing for athletic tallent lax was dropped.
clintmeadows
alright kids baylor had possibly the worst lacrosse team in history. Mccallie beat them so bad they had to call the game in the 2nd quarter.
