Year in and year out Maryville has a strong line. This is one year that I think Powell has out done Maryville. I think both Bruhin's are like three of most teams O line.

REBELRON,

Here is what I was told. Not sure how accurate this is..

Rhett Brooks 270 Bench / 400 Squat

Bobby Browning 350 Bench / 450 Squat

Cory Everett No news. He was slowed down due to his shoulder injury

Matt Gardner 240 Bench / 420 Squat

Jimmy Wallace 245 Bench / 400 Squat

No news on Gary Tucker Last year 240 Bench / 340 Squat

Again this is a WAG. Not sure how accurate..

The best O-line in 4-A would be Memphis East...both of their tackles are high D-1 players. One of whom is a top-100 player regardless of position according to Tom Lemming and the other is a top 150 player. They also return Cassius Vaughn who possibly was the best runningback last year in the city as a sophomore...

Of course, I am assuming that East is still in 4-A... :D

Here is a link to the ESPN story...Malcolm Rawls is the kids name and their other tackle is highly coveted as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

Memphis East and the rest of the state probably do have great lines, but not much intelligence or discipline, no offense. Memphis East, Hillsboro, White Station, etc. have a lot of talent but that talent stops after the D1 players, everyone else is less than average so the D1 prospects have to play both ways. This is their downfall. Maryville hardly ever plays lineman on both sides of the ball, they have backups that could start for most any other team. Thats how we're successful.

NW line although rebuilding helped put up great numbers in the spring. In 2 scrimmages Wilkerson had over 500 yards and Mix had over 300, sounds good to me. Some people doubt the capability of this unit but numbers don't lie. I heard they also did this with the absense of both returning tight ends.

This will be a great MHS O-Line. For you Rebel fans that are not fortunate enough to see their work outs, Well I really can’t tell you the difference in these guys. You’ll have to wait and see. The offence is running a new system this year that will blow you away. I would hate to be an opposing defensive coordinator going up against this year’s offence. A few reasons they are able to run this offence is size, quickness, and brains. I can’t wait for you fans to see this. If they stay healthy and play to their potential this is going to be a year to remember.

    • Looks like South Pittsburg added some more talent!
    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
