Where's James Rainer at now? He was one of Alcoa's many stars when they won 2A state in 2000. He ran a 4.39 I believe. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knew where he's at now, I thought he got a scholarship to East Carolina out of high school, but I've never seen his name on the roster.

James is now at East Tennessee State where he played football for the bucs and was ranked 3rd in the conference in kick returns (24.3). If I'm not mistaken he's now running track too. Indoor he finished 3rd in the 60m (6.82) , and two weeks ago he qualified for the NCAA regional track meet in the 100m. (10.48). He also finished third in the Conference 100m dash yesterday (10.50).

Tom-I recently saw him and sat down and watched his track tape that he made. He said that he was at Western Carolina and then came to ETSU and that football is gone he has gotten some letters from other colleges to play football. He isnt sure what he will do but he has said he would like to be somewhere that there is Alcoa kids at from the 2000 state championship team. Only time can tell my good friend tom

Rainer is the only high school kid i have ever seen that when he got into the open field he was literally a "blur". It was almost funny to see him be even with a defender and then watch in disbelief at how quickly he seperated himself. He would be worth a scholarship to any college program in the country in my opinion even if it were only for special teams.
