How is Oak Ridge looking?

How do the Wildcats look this spring? And who is on there staff. If you have any info let me know, plus maybe a scoop on some of the new faces in Oak Ridge.

Well, they had their first scrimmage of the spring on Friday ( Red and Gray) and it was a typical early spring outing. The Defense was well ahead of the Offense and there were a number of young guys playing which made it a bit ragged. This Friday they actually play another team, Cumberland County so we will see how they look with the top guys in there. Actually the returning players struggled a bit in my opinion.

They do return their quarterback from last year Scott McMahon plus their one thousand yard rusher Spencer Gulmire. Starting Fullback Jake Vane is still in baseball but he returns as well. The O line is young but has a lot of potential. Receivers will need to step up but there is talent there too.

On defense I think the line will be solid but they are most talented at the linebacker position. Oak Ridge's All-time leading tackler returns in the person of James Mitchell and he leads that group which includes two year starter Spencer Gulmire. Gulmire has been working in the secondary this spring but could return.

They will need to replace their fine kickers but overall the future is bright for Oak Ridge football fans for several years to come. The game Friday will be at the practice field incase fans want to see for themselves.

I know Oak Ridges Asst. Coach last year is now the Head Coach at Clinton so their are probably a couple of new coaches on the coaching staff their.

The scrimmage against Cumberland County starts at 5:30 at the practice field located beside the High School. Should be interesting to say the least.
