Were you there?

Here is the story-

CCS dominated first half leading 2-0.

Pretty even in the second half. CSAS scored on a corner kick then on a PK. Shots on goal probably favored CCS in the second half but CSAS had several dangerous chances.

Overtime- no goals

PK- CSAS 3 CCS 2

Wow, what a game.

CCS is the better team but CSAS got it done when they needed to. Both these teams should cruise to Memphis with wins on Saturday.

Just to let everyone know CSAS won today over CCS. The score at the end of regulation was 2-2. CSAS won in a shootout (3-2). CCS played an excellent game dominating the first half finishing up 2-0 and CSAS woke up and came back to draw even in the second half. And they were able to finish it off in PKs. Congrats to CSAS and good luck to both teams in sectionals on Saturday.

First-year coach Matt Rivers has somehow taken a team who seemed capable of losing to anybody and slowly forged a disorganized group into a team capable of beating very good teams on the road. Last year CSAS lost the region championship against CCS after a shootout but played an inspired game in the sectionals to advance to the State. Will they have a letdown at home after t

tonight's win?

Lookout Columbia Acadamy, you are about to get a soccer lesson from CCS.

The other region is pretty weak. (traditionally) With the exception of several years ago, CCS has won pretty easily in sectionals. This is only the second time for the 8 team format (where two from region go). CSAS had a great team last year. They should do ok on Saturday. CCS and CSAS should be able to make room reservations in Memphis but it is played on the field not on a message board.

    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
    • Gunner Warren was the second starter, freshman. SP #1 arm impressed me last night.
