Top Five QBs in DII history

My first thought was Benji... then of course Ingle Martin and Michael Fisher. Greer Bickley from BGA should get a bit of a mention, leading the team to three-straight CBs and two state championships (granted, we're talking all of D-II, not just AAA).

Speaking of Greer Bickley, is he playing in college next year anywhere?

Idellette was a good player, but not necessarily a good qb. he ran the ball 85% of the time, if not more than that. he was, however, the fastest player i ever played against, which made him a threat. if i had to rank all of those qb`s listed, mine would be:

1. Ingle Martin, MBA

2. Richard Moore, MUS no one really gives him credit but he almost single handedly beat MBA'S 98 state championship team

3. Michael Fisher, MBA

4. Benji Walker, BA

5. Ryan Moore, McCallie

6. Penn Garvich, McCallie

7. Willie Idellette, Baylor

8. Christian Chauvin, Ryan

*A little tidbit, Ingle and Penn are now teammates at Furman, and I think they may even live together.

Richard Moore definately was good, but he didnt almost beat MBA's '98 squad because his senior year was in '97. But yes MUS beat MBA in '97; however, MBA wasn't that good that year.

MBA did return the favor in the '97 playoffs, beating MUS 24-7 to make the state title game, losing 10-7 to an undefeated Ryan team.

It's safe to say that DII-AAA has seen its share of good QBs since its beginning, and it's a sound topic to debate.

In my opinion, Ingle Martin and Michael Fisher are the best two I have seen. They were fundamentally sound, but most of all, they were leaders, playmakers, and winners. How much emphasis should be placed on winning can always be debated, but the success MBA has experienced in recent years has been thanks in large part to the play of these two fine QBs.

However, Ryan Moore and Willie Idellette probably did more for their team and certainly deserve to be recognized as two of the best to have played in this division.

Ingle Martin has to be up there as far as one of the best in the state at QB and even Kicker and I believe he wishes he had chosen UT to play where he would be in the mix for the starting spot, but I think will do well at Furman. In 1997 QB for Ryan was Todd Campbell who called most of the plays in the 12-0 season and won the state title while also playing 3 years at Ole Miss and I believe his senior year at UTC.

    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
    • What coach in their right mind would want to come here and set theirself on fire to keep her warm.
    • Shoulder not going to the #### show .   Macon will name the score this year.
    • Plenty of time. The former coach was busy with family and disappeared all summer anyway. Obvious choice has the same family issues. First game is in March 2025.
