i don't know about the best defense yet but i think the most improved will be the Franklin rebels.

Brentwood bruins, best defense in the region the past 3 years

Past three years, Franklin had a field day with Brentwoods defense in the state playoffs in the second round this past year and i belive in the secong half of the first meeting as well. Might wanna think that one over again.

I think Franklin has a great chance of having the best defense in the region this year. Brentwood's defense has been one of the best in the region over the past couple years... can't argue with that much ftballkicker. But you also can't argue that Franklin had their way with 'em in the playoffs last year. But that's one individual game...

I saw Franklin in a passing tournament and if that is a good defense then I don't know what I was looking at!!!! I don't think they won a game in Lebanon last week and I do know that Beech beat them twice!

And I'm sure Beech started to jump up and down, coaches included, after every semi-good thing they did. Remember that Beech dominated, if you ask me, Franklin last year in the preseason. Who did well last year? Preseason matters not.

yeah, brentwood's crawford is gonna probably have the best d in this region. however, i'm not suprised to see wes hall on hear screaming crawford's praises.

ftballkicker, your post was a little garbled with strung on sentences. Last game was the playoff game, Franklin definitely had the upper hand. Previous game was about as even as it could get, with the game going into overtime. Previous year Brentwood shut Franklin out the first half, Franklin scored 8 points in the second half. In the past 10 years, both teams have won 6 and lost 6 meetings, which counts three in a row (94,95,96) victories for Franklin and three in a row for Brentwood ((97,98,99). Might want to think THAT again.

What a great rivalry Franklin vs Brentwood is. I thought it was more lopsided towards Brentwood... thanks for posting that fromthetop2. I'm just glad that both programs are to the point now where the game is huge not just because of the rivalry that's there, but that it means something in a big way. If you ask me, Franklin/Brentwood has taken over Riverdale vs Oakland as far as the most important rivalry game in 5A now.

A bold statement there, Rebel... but not totally off-base... I might agree it has become one of the most important rivalry games in the Midstate, but the entire state might be a bit of a stretch... 5A definitely has its share of regional wars every year... you have Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill... D-B and Jefferson Co., and Soddy Daisy-Ooltewah in the East... then the biggest rivalry out West has to be Germantown against Houston...

 

Here in Middle Tennessee, you have to rank Oakland-Riverdale as one of the best... has been for a long time... even though the Warriors have DOMINATED the series (24-9 in their favor)... Brentwood only opened in 1982, when Oakland and Riverdale were already on Battle of the Boro, Part IX... and don't leave out the Sumner County schools... Gallatin, Hendersonville and Beech have staged some amazing border wars over the years...

 

But I can say Brentwood-Franklin has become one of my favorite games to be at every year...
