Maryville 5A

I was looking at the TSSAA website, and noticed their new Classifications, if I read it correctly, did Maryville have the choice to move up to 5A this year, since they have over 1350 students? Does anyone know anything about this?

i wish they would, they are a great team, i think they could handle the majority of the 5a teams with a few exceptions of course

Yeah, that'd be nice, especially for us 4A teams that have a hard time beating them.

I think this might be the reason they are avoiding it, is because a lot of the teams they would have to play would be a good distance away. Which means long bus rides, and lower fan turnout.

Again I'm not sure if they had the choice.

Schools always have the choice to move up, unless they're in DI-5A or DII-AAA to begin with. A week from Monday (7 September) is the deadline to declare.

I really, really wish they would move up the 5A..I'd like to see how they do..And i dont really understand about the travelin thing..Heritage and William Blount travel forever to play teams like Bradley Central and McMinn County.

Well, they would have to haul the band and all of those players, which would be just an inconvinience. Fans might be more reluctant to come, because of the distance.

That might be the reason, it could be that they know the teams in 4A better, so they have an advantage. I don't really know.

Maryville FB will do fine in any classification because they are a true program and not just a team. (reload not rebuild).

well dang, its an inconvinience for WB and Heritage too i bet..They do the same thing..Take there band and everything..oh well, im done discussing this subject cause i dont really think Maryville is gonna move up.

I wish Maryville would move to 5A. I'd absolutely love to see them play Riverdale.
