Soddy is a long shot for sure one thing the message board has taught me is never say never. D-B is playing some kinda different game than any other high school around. They beat my beloved Wildcats. They looked like a college team with their shotgun offense. They can score so fast. I think they can be bea. If we meet them in the playoffs (OAk Ridge) I think we can be the ones to beat them but until the whistle blows at the end of the game I will not be comfortable even if we were up by 21 with three min to go. 21 points can possibly be just three plays for D-B's freak of an offense. Riverdale has to be counted in the mix, they have all those Juniors that came back this year and are now seniors. I just do not see Soddy Daisy in the picture. Next year is the year Oak Ridhge will shine if not this year we have a lot of juniors and sophs starting. The entire secondary and every running back is a soph or junior. There are several juniors on thr O line, the only positions held by seniors full time is a couple linebackers and a couple linemen.

Speaking of Soddy are they loaded with seniors or will they have a lot of guys coming back?

I believe when you loose a lot of starting seniors you have to rebuild. I have heard a lot about reloading but their isnt any better way to prepare than game time as a soph or junior.

The Journey

General Gatewood and his hungry owls are looking for their next prey. In week One they marched into Red Bank on a dark foggy night looking for the once mighty lions and found only a few cubs in their den which wasn’t enough for the Old James County Legion. Week two some hyped up East Ridge pioneers decided to march their air wagons into the Nest to lay their claim after their thumping of the Bears in their first test. But they found out quickly that the Owls Nest wasn’t as peaceful as they thought when disturbed and ran home crying to their mommas. Week Three a band of McMinn County Cherokee warriors tried to sneak into the Nest only to find the Owls ready and looking for a good fight, the only problem they thought they were warriors and found that they were only big talking pups which angered Gatewoods Owls and sent them back on I-75 trail to Athens with their tails between their legs. Week Four Gatewood and his troops from Ooltewah raged war on their Purple boarder rivals and found that the PUDS from Chattanooga Central ready to knock off the 6th ranked team in the state. The Puds did everything that they could to stop one of the fiercest Owls in Gatewood’s arsenal only to find out these birds can air it out just as good than knocking their foes in the nose. The PUDS picked their poison and paid the ultimate price. Week Five the Governors from William Blount heard there were some rowdy Owls in Ooltewah so they sent a few Marshall’s to take care of the situation but would be held up by a storm named Ivan that had flooded their path. They should have just stayed put because once they arrived in Ooltewah they found that the Owls were rowdy, and fiercer than the storm Ivan during the battle the Owls captured one of the Governors leaders so they brought him to their Commander, General Gatewood which he then offered a truce halfway through the battle but they did not except the terms and conditions so he then ordered his troops to destroy them and so they did. After the conflict the Owls posted signs on all their boarders and this is what it reads. (Don’t mess with the NEST) with exception of the border between PUDLAND and Ooltewah it is written in Red and has a picture so our Purple PUD rivals can understand it.

    • Honestly the A.D. may be powerless at Maryville to some degree versus other schools. I know he has his hands full with GoFan and all the stupid surprises just from the emails he sends out during the season.
    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
