Perhaps the consolidation a few years ago was unnatural. Have you guys had many good seasons since consolidation? Do you ever wish you had Jim Swafford back? Do you think politics got him? Do you think politics is a problem in the Knox Co. system? Do you think the answer is under your noses and you can't see it? Why ask why? You have some of the best players around Knox Co. and lose year after year after year. Something is wrong over there, and I think some of you are getting close to the answer.

you act like swafford was a god! he was far from it. He might have one of the best records since the merger of the two schools but still his biggest season was a 9-5 season or something like that! thats not anything incredible. the year after that 5-7. The point is he still sucked. We need someone in this program who can make us 14-0... or atleast someone that is capable of it. Dont write off hutchins just yet its still his first year!

This is not a quick fix people. Things have been bad at SD for a long time. The first thing that has to change is attitudes. Kids have to believe they can win before they will bust their humps to try. Once that is accomplished, everything else will fall into place. Not to mention, they need time to adapt to a whole new system. I can't believe people actually think in one year an 0-10 team is going to have a winning season. Be patient and reap your rewards in a few years.

You are right about Swafford. He was a disgrace to the school and the coaching profession. Him losing his job had nothing to do with politics. It was about his behavior and poor judgment. He NEVER had a winning record a SD. Coach Ward had several winning seasons including a region championship in the 90's.

Attitude is the hardest thing to change. There has been a long standing record of sub par seasons even before the merger. The one good season in the 90's was an exception, they had one great running back, and that team was still a merger of the 2 previous schools.

 

Give Coach Hutchins a chance. "Rome was not built in a day" and SD will not turn around in a year.

yeah i agree... these idiots that dont know anything about coaching think your supposed to come in and just be perfect. I agree that he needs more time to prove himself but thats not to say he is gonna make something really signifigant at this school. Its to early to tell! we will see i hope for the best in him

I think what needs to be done at South Doyle is getting done. They are getting better every game, they seem to be coming together more as a team. Im expecting some wins here in the near future.

Hutchins will be good for SD in the long run. You all are right, things arent going to turn around in 1 year, maybe even two. I dont see all the talent that you all talk about at SD. Overall, there are about 3 GOOD atheletes, the rest are decent. It isnt the coach's fault for all these losses. SD has a TON of atheletes, they just dont play football, they are scattered in other sports like basketball and baseball. They do have chances in the next two weeks to win, I hope SD can end the season on a good note. Good luck Cherokees!
