I was particularly impressed by the Johnson brothers from Brighton, Andrew Barnett, and Ferguson from Ridgeway.

There has been no indication in West TN that they have a team.  There was no representative at the coach's meeting or at the weight cert. meeting.  They are also not listed on the weight cert schedule.

I think cordova is the sleeping giant. Theve been gaining more skill year after year and beat rideway last year, But lost by 1 match at the region duals. We got some good new commers as well. Im expecting a even better season than last year. So to all the same 3 teams that are posted on here most out of everybody(collerville, rideway, and houston) be prepared because cordova is going to suprise a lot of people.

Also, Brett Rogers was on the football field this friday and will tear up the wrestling mat at 215.

What do you mean "not including you",do you know who your talking to. Anyways you never underestimate the 3-time defending region champs. Where exactly did Cordova finish in the region tournament? Collierville was 50 points ahead of the second place team, Ridgeway.

Cordova had Two guys in the finals and Collierville had six. How can you say that Cordova will be close when they can't get to the finals of a tournament?

Ring06, I said early in this post that Cordova is the sleeper this year. Im not saying they will win region, but I think they will be improved over last year. Yes they did defeat Ridgeway last year in a duel meet. I also remember Ridgeway had a few injuries at that time. Ridgeway did come back at Region and defeat Cordova in a close and exciting contest. Cordova has a new coaching staff this year and the wrestler turnout has been great. Double the size of last years team. Things are looking very positive at cordova. Its still early in the season and several wrestlers are still playing football at other schools. Cordova's Football season is over and there wrestlers choose to take the week off. They will be back and ready for Ridgeway's preseason tournament. This has been a great thread for region 8 so let's keep it positive and give the season a little time.

Hammond DID graduate last year. He was a beast since he was in middle school (probably because he did not grow since then either). Yes, Cordova will be good. No you won't be on the same level as Collierville, Ridgeway, and Houston. Germantown will be right there too. You all have a lot of numbers and some experience, but you'll go through the growing pains like everyone else. Stewart Allen will be the team stud. Hope everyone can follow his lead. Mitchner, McNinch,Piotrowski, and Ring should do ok. Howington coming back is huge (if he can get in shape). Cordova will be much improved but they aren't even close to winning the region.
