Ooltewah vs. Oak Ridge

I said way back on page 8 that "the key for both teams will be the effectiveness of their passing games."

According to the Chattanooga Times Free-Press,

McMahon- 11-17 for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns

Woods- 1-11 for 15 yards and 2 interceptions

Obviously that wasn't the sole reason that Ooltewah lost the game, but its tough to win when you are one-dimensional on offense. They need to improve throwing the ball in a hurry, because Farragut has a good rush defense. They are very weak against the pass, however. If Ooltewah can throw effectively against Farragut, then they will win easily. If they can't, it will be a close, low-scoring game.

Congratulations to Oak Ridge for the big win.

Grad, you are a class act no doubt about it. With some of the stuff that is said on here sometimes it's hard to keep your cool.

Last nights game was full of good clean hard fought football. Hope your kid recovers and came play at 100 % next fri. It's great winning but if one kid gets hurt it just isn't worth it.

Let me first say it was great game by two great teams last night. You both represented your schools with a lot of class.

But I must comment on just a couple of things:

Central Bobcat - You said "the defensive front is soft and slow" and that we have not faced a "running game like the owls". Well, if you had witnessed these past two weeks the defensive line has won the battle for us up front. That supposedly slow and weak defensive line held Ooltewah to 30 rushes for 88 yards and they hit the quarterback during every pass play. I think you probably needed to worry a little more about your team (56-10 loss to Maryville, that has got to hurt) than Oak Ridge and Ooltewah.

StayNSchool - Where is your trash talk now? I guess your tradition will have to wait another year.

GradFromTheNest - You showed a lot of class with your post after the game. I wish others could do the same.

Good game Ooltewah and good luck the rest of the season. (that is for you Grad)

OR vs. Soddy is next week for the Region championship. The CATS control there own destiny. Play hard, play smart, minimize your mistakes and the region championship is yours. Is high school football great or what? The playoffs are almost upon us.

First of all KnoxSoddy, there's really nothing to say...haha! Everything was said on the field last night. Do you want us to be like you guys last week and complain that the refs cost us the game? Oak Ridge was the better team...they whipped us and made us like it!

Secondly, ORPlaya, good post....except not.. B)
