Maryville vs. Central

I couldn't agree more. CSS is making a business proposition to the school and should not expect the school to treat it as anything other than that. If there are not benefits for both parties then the deal shouldn't go down.

I respect MHS for trying to get something for the students out of the situation. Our schools in this state are struggling enough as it is; I certainly don't think that we should criticize any school that takes measures trying to improve the situation.

We held Wests run game to 118 and they live and die by the run...it'll be close to the same Friday.

The loss of Lawhon is big. Few people can run people down from one sideline to the other like he could. Tallent saw some action at LB at West and had an interception. He may see some action there on Friday as well. We are pretty deep at most positions and possibly more at LB than others so I think we will be fine. I just hate it for Jon because his motor is always running and I know it must kill him to have to sit and watch.

I think that anytime a team loses a player like Lawhon it will have a negative impact. But I also think that at MHS we are exceptionally deep. Will there be a dropoff in linebacker play without Lawhon? Yes. Will it be a dramatic drop off? I don't think so.

We have good speed at linebacker and I think that the guys will step up and be ready to play. And because they have been a part of the Maryville system, I am confident that they will be able to play at a level needed for a game of this magnitude....and it doesn't hurt having Parnell back either.

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
