Very good offense. Suggestion get with Carson Newman to see how they do it. They have a great clinic during the winter.

Good Points:

1. Makes agressive defense play responsibility football.

2. Hard for the opposition to simulate in one week of preparation.

3. Number of plays are few because it is triple option.

Points for consideration:

1. You must completely believe in it and use all practice time toward it.

2. There will be 8 in the box unless you spread the formation.

3. Your WR's better be excellent blockers. This will equal TD's.

4. IMO you should package the mid-line series with the inside veer. Very hard

on defensive personnel.

5. Speed option is best run out of a spread formation out of the gun.

6. Triple option can also be run from the spread gun formation.

7. IMO the best way to run it is the no mesh way that C-N does.

These are just some thoughts. Carson Newman has the answers.

Very good points. If you have a talented fast qb can be a great offense. Learn to read it instead of predetermined calls and also run the outside veer and read it. inside and outside together are a great threat to any defense.

Thomas County Central (you may remember Charlie Ward of FSU) in south GA has also ran it for the last 30 something years and has about 15 state championships to show for it. Great coaches there and will work with anyone on the system.

ok, the "I" backfield. sorry to force you into humerous dialogue with my abbrev's

But thanks so far to all.

Why do more teams not run it and...

why do so many people complain about it when you have teams that run it unbelieveably well, and win year after year, like carson newman, it can't be just the athletes.

C-N does run the spit back veer. But what has it done for them lately? They have not won the national title in 15 years b/c teams know how to stop it. Better athletes, movement along the defensive front and stupid play calling on the part of C-N allows them to be the Buffalo Bills of Division II.
