Okay, rochelle!

Don't be getting cocky and spreading those Steel Curtain reminiscences too thickly around here! I'll admit the wins over Philly and NEngland were impressive, but, speaking of Baltimore, wasn't it the modern day boys of Baltimore (Ravens) who handed Pittsburgh something in the neighborhood of a 30-13 loss just

a few weeks ago and made the "men of steel" look more like the "lads of aluminum foil"???

Actually, I've found myself rootin' for the Steelers in the past several weeks, since I've finally severed ties with the hapless Raiders and because the Titans aren't playing very Titan-like lately. Hoping my Bengals continue to improve so that I won't continue to be a man without a team!

And as for Vols 5, don't expect him to follow in the shoes of his old man! His Dad is probably just like you---stuck in the 70's!!! PEACE!

On a serious note though, I hope things are going well for you and I appreciate the good references you've given me. Sometime when you get a chance, take

a minute to email me and let me know what happened with the softball deal? What changed your mind about taking it?

Oh yeah, far more important than any Steelers game, GET THEM 'KEES Friday night!

Regards,

In most recent games against quality region II opponents the defenses gave up the following:

Coalfield (32.75 ave): Midway 14, CAK 70, Oneida 7, Greenback 40

Midway (20.25 ave): Coalfield 35, CAK 18, Oneida 28, Greenback 0

Oneida (24.75 ave): Midway 33, CAK 17(in Regulation), Coalfield 14, Greenback 35

Greenback (14.25 ave) : Midway 13, CAK 14, Oneida 6, Coalfield 24

You tell me who is best.

Indianapolis has never won a Super Bowl.  The Baltamore Colts did.  You should have stuck with the men of steel like your dad.

They still wore the blue and white. As for the "Men of Steel" and their all mighty quarterback, they just better be lucky they dont run into the Colts offensive rampage this year, Manning is gonna shatter Marinos record and take a superbowl. Heck, before hes done he may have a handfull. And Porter better stick to whippin up on the Browns runnin back, Edgerin might just lay him out thumb

Back to Coalfield and their D.... 70 points at CaK doesnt show what kind of defense they are...i mean..look at the midway game.

I think some of u need to think harder on what a good D really is. In my opinion a good D is not a D that only allows 7 or 14 points a game I think a good D is one that can step up when it matters most such as the Coalfield D at Oneida or the Oneida D when playing CAK or the Coalfield D when they started shutting down Midway or the Midway D when the shut down the high power O of Coalfield the first go around thats what makes a great D.

BOYD! there d is by far the fastest in 1A. They have only given up 15points all year to 1A teams, and that was in the playoffs. As they shut there region out in the regular season. Not too mention they only lost one game and beat many 3A and 4A teams. Boyd offense may get all the attention, but this year will be the same as least year as Boyd's D wins them another state title.

Like I've always said, Boyd sticks itself everywhere it don't belong. Did anyone see Boyd written on this post? Boyd wins the award for Cockiest D, hands down. Even if they had the best in the lot, no one wll appreciate their team cause they are full of themselves. They must spend a lot of time looking at themselves in the mirror. <_<

I'm not from Boyd for your info. I am just a fan of TSSAA football. I am not partial to anyone. I just call them like I see them. I keep up with football of all classes from all across the state and the way Boyd has handled themselves throughout the past few years during the regular season and the playoffs and given that Greenback has always choked and that Coalfield is in unchartered waters, I made the point that I made. Boyd has destroyed everyone, they destroyed everyone last year also and they take on the big boys from other classes. Greenback is very predictable and Coalfield isn't talented enough up front. Boyd is clearly the better team. Boyd could get upset by DCA, but that is the only team that I see playing with them.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
