Waiting for my reply, VCR!  Well, here it is.  DVDs are all the rage.  Do they even sell VCRs anymore (HA HA).

I agree completely with your assessment.  Heritage will be tough.  I see District 3&4 in the same boat.  Both have front runners, but also very capable teams to take the top spot.  Like last year, I predicted Farragut would wind up 3rd or 4th in District 4 and everybody was picking Karns and Powell in District 3.  None of that worked out.  Every game this year will be critical.

Since everyone on this thread is hanging on my everyword, I'll say this.  Farragut didn't outperform many teams last year.  We did win alot of games.  As VTEC will tell you, all by one run.  Maybe a one-run game is outperforming?  Semantics.

A win is a win and one run games are always more fun to watch. As with most one run games it takes a solid team with good skills and just a little bit of luck. Defense did it for Farragut last year,a good pitcher and good defense just waiting for the other team to make a mistake. It will be tough in these two districts this year. I don't know how good everyone's defense is, so I have to go with the best pitching depth and that would be Karns, Powell, and Farragut. Hard to make it all the way with just one pitcher. Of course some of these young pitchers may suprise me and some other folks. Good luck to everyone.......

Pitching depth in HS helps in the weekend tournaments and in case of injury. The teams at State last year were almost exclusively one pitcher teams. Once the district tournament starts, the #1 pitcher will get the starts and will not have to play back to back games.

That's why I think WB has a good shot this year. Rachel will do well, VTEC. I just don't know about short and first for WB. Those girls are yahoos!! (just kidding Em and Britt).

Farragut has a bright young star in the bull pen this year (Rachel Ingleby, Freshman). She reminds me alot of Margaret when she was a Freshman. Good speed, good movement. Farragut also has Kim Wright, Sophomore and Cayla Smith, Junior. Any of these girls could pitch #1 for some other teams in the district. Weekend tournament time will be a much easier this year.

You are right ladyadmiral weekend tournaments would be a lot easier with more pitching depth. The good thing about high school is one game a day and the pitcher/catcher get in a rhythm with the rest of the girls. The injury thing is scary, with only freshman to step up at pitcher. Margaret had her trial by fire last year and did a great job. I guess Rachel will have hers this year. I just hate that she is the only junior left on the team. Should be a fun season.......

Seem to be a pretty solid team. They had a few over throws in the infield, hit the ball ok. Pitching seem solid if defense will do their part. The game with WB ended in a 4-4 tie, WB made 6 errors, so games like this it's hard to say.....

Do many of these teams still have bball players out? I know of at least 2 girls for Kingston that were still in bball on Sat?

we played kingston saturday and won 6-1 or 7-1, i dont know... I was warming up while we played them.

Jennifer Humphries is their pitcher, by the way. She said they had like 4 or 5 girls out for basketball.

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
