HighLife
Lots of good games to choose from, I'm gonna roll with strictly Middle Tennessee. 1.) Oakland @ Blackman Big time matchup that will be televised nationally. A treat to watch in the beginning of the season as the two district favorites will battle it out in a Heavyweight Clash. Probably will be the 1st of 2 meetings between these schools this season. Should be a physical, intense game 2.) Overton@ Father Ryan Another good game to open up the season. Overton lost some really good players and has to break in a new coach, but the Bobcats are still going to be a legit threat in class 6A. Father Ryan returns quite a bit of playmakers after a very successful season last year. Should be a dandy. 3.) Rossview @ Hillsboro More then likely 2 of the Top 10 teams in 5A and 6A will square off in this game. Rossview comes off their best season ever and returns quite a few kids including their star RB & Star QB. Hillsboro should be a threat for the 5A crown this season and returns a slew of talented college prospects. This could be an offensive shoot out. 4.) Trinity @ Ensworth Two traditional private school powerhouses will tangle in week 0. Trinity is traditionally one of the best teams in Ky year in and year out. Ensworth is replacing a ton of talent but the cupboard is far from bare for coach Bowers and the Tigers. I expect another classic game from both teams. I think Ensworth high end talent will be the difference here. 5.)Riverdale @ Siegel Another tough Rutherford Co matchup here. Riverdale ended the year strong, upset Siegel late in the season and return some really good talent. Siegel lost a lot from last seasons team but Coach Wyant has built the Siegel program to beyond respectable the last few years, this game should really entertain

readallofthem
I try to find a great game in Middle TN to go to each week. I will be at Hillsboro for week 0. Should be a great game. I think the Boros make a statement in week 0 and win BIG.
Lost Old Dad
Siegel v R'dale game will be interesting. Will show if R'dale is a legit third place contender or was playing Siegel with a bunch of starters out last year a lucky win for R'dale. Look for Siegel to be looking for revenge. Sounds like you are saying teams with best players win. Where does coaching enter in? Edited July 24, 2014 by runtheball
Lost Old Dad
Siegel was missing some 'key' players due to injury last year that enabled R'dale to barely squeak by them. Will be interesting to see how it goes this year. I will bet though that Siegel is deeper this year as Coach W at Siegel coaches for the future and not crisis by crisis. He also encourages more to actually come out and not try to play with as few players as possible. This is purely my speculation as R'dale has done nothing but get smaller and smaller since their current HC got here.

Please explain "crisis by crisis" . So Riverdale encourages small squad?
workinprogress
Run I have tried for years to get old dad to see a realistic view. Can't change an old dog stuck in his ways. Rankin had success when there were four football playing schools in Rutherford county. Now there are double that number. This growth has made Rutherford county football as a whole a lot stronger but for Riverdale their success has gotten weaker. It only makes sense. TDCman
Aren't the schools in Rutherford County some of the largest in the state? There are more schools because there are way more students. I've never really understood that argument very well when they really have about as many kids as they ever had. What has changed is the distribution of talent, coaching, and where the players are migrating to. When's the last time a player over 5' 5" transferred to Riverdale? Someone said last year that Riverdale did not lose a single contributor when SC opened...is that correct? The off season is the season of eternal hope so I'll choose to be optimistic right now. My expectation is that since Riverdale beat Siegel at the end of last season, and return pretty much everybody, that week 0 should be a win for Riverdale. I'm sure pretty much everybody, LOD excluded, expects the same. Edited July 24, 2014 by TDCman
oldschooldawg30
i agree that the county has gotten bigger and the competition has gotten better which has made 7aaa the SEC of high school football but i also know for a fact what LOD is talkin about "ive seen it with my own eyes" kids getting ran off the team for what i saw during spring practice was having practice in another sport that interfered with football practice, as a coach wouldn't you want athlete's who play other sports year round and who wanna play for your team and represent your school? just talk to the young men at Riverdale and you will know why they don't wanna play football at Riverdale anymore each year we are getting closer and closer to coach HateAlot's dream to just play 7 on 7 teams of say like a holloway and making it the new battle of the boro
Lost Old Dad
TDC, right now I am calling it 'flip a coin', but Coach W WILL have his team in better condition for the heat the game will be played in. Part of the demise of R'dale is the falling off of the condition of the players across the board. Lack of emphasis in the weight room and the constant emphasis on football YEAR ROUND anymore. Add to this the total lack of players (DEPTH) and you have part of the reason wins are not a sure thing anymore. Coach A was overheard to say when he got to R'dale the team was TOO BIG to manage. I do not think HIS view has changed. Thing is the TEAM was not too big. It was he was NOT ready for the big leagues! Look at the times the team is practicing in to understand what I mean about not being 'heat conditioned' for the early games. Watch for who's players start cramping up first in the game. I am willing to bet it is the same time as others teams in the district, which is 7am. They do that to make sure they can get the work they need to in (if the heat index gets above 105, they have to go inside), not because they are trying to avoid the heat.
