I would think that he is a quality person because they allowed him to keep his teaching spot at Coffee Co. after they removed him from the basketball program.

well, I was just responding to where you said about "Skipper has not brought in either quality coaches or people. He cant seem to find someone that is both. Its either one or the other it seems"...so I was wondering which you thought applied to the basketball coach...not a quality person or not a quality coach.

no offense but when was the last time t town made the state or had a winning season? you haven't exactly hit a home run with your hires the last several years.

we had a nice string of winning seasons up until two years ago.  we have more athletes and better athletes than manchester does.  which you can see from football.  we need a guy who can get the best athletes in the school to play.

then you should have hired the 400 game winner from ms with 4 state appearences...instead you will no doubt hire a level 1 math teacher with no credentials. once again not being critical...i just happen to know t town cares as much for basketball as manchester does.

Seems like this has become the old coach at Manchester and new coach at Tullahoma thread.

Lets get back on topic.....  I see that Ben Holl is staying on as an assistant.  That's a great thing.

I understand they are looking for a couple of more assistants to work with JV and Freshmen I presume..

What I am saying is that at Coffee Co. a really good year is 15-18 wins. A really good coach could get to that point, maybe, but any thing more than that is almost unreasonable with the lack of athletic talent that they have there. Good kids, mostly hard working kids, but not athletic. Then when you factor in the parent thing, if you have to please them to keep your job, now you are looking at 10-12 wins being a really good year. I havent really heard of anyone leaving there and going elsewhere and being successful. Not that it is a grave yard, but it sure doesnt lead into greater things.

i remembered this thread from a couple of years ago while watching our butts get whipped last week. Coffee has the better players, better athletes, and better coaches right now. Haven't seen that big a crowd in that gym in 20 years.  I guess that's what a 20 win season will do for you.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say the have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
