Private-Public talent disparity widening

I will always be against a public-private split, since I think the public schools are their own worst enemies.  With any kind of organization, the publics would dominate the privates.

Anyhow, the way things are now, the privates are dominating more than ever.  Some notable scores from tonight.

Chattanooga Christian, which started its program 4 or 5 years ago, beat Brainerd, 24-21.

Lausanne d Germantown, 42-7.

Those two stand out to me.

Others...

Baylor 35-27 over Rhea at Evensville.

CBHS d White Station, 28-20.

Quite a few other privates over publics of note.  But Alcoa gets it done for the publics tonight blanking Webb, 35-0.

The gap between good public school programs and other school programs is widening. The gap between good private school programs and other private school programs is widening. Tradition rich football schools in metropolitan areas will continue to grow while more isolated rural communities will maintain. In other words the good football programs continue to get stronger not just private schools

If the public schools aren't good enough to let their kids attend then they shouldn't be good enough to play with in the playoffs. Public and private should be split.

Absolutely. If you want to separate yourself then do it,your choice. I also disagree with allowing home schooled kids on public school teams. You pay taxes you choose to not go to what is provided by those taxes. You've made the choice.

 I'm so confused !!!

Help me to understand this stereotypical way of thinking !!!

      Public -vs- Private?

      Win -vs- Loss ?

No organization in public schools ?

      Private schools dominate ?

These thoughts strike me as harsh and unfounded. A kind of "yellow journalism" at best.

Seems to me you need an academic tongue slashing for being uninformed.

I could be wrong but I don't think anyone said the pubilcs lack organization.....on the contrary, the publics organized fairly well to spilt publics and privates.

As for "unfounded"....the TSSAA clearly stated in their meeting a couple months ago that the privates dominate the publics.  So that statement is 100% correct.

Is it talent or is it coaching? I think coaching has more to do with it that talent. For instance, the majority of D1 talent in the state comes from middle and west Tennessee. However, this year like every year the majority of teams playing for state championships are from the east. Maryville constantly dominates 6A but has very few players go into D1. Same with Alcoa and Fulton.

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
