Getting boring listening to all the public vs private stuff so thought we could go ahead and talk about what we got coming back next year and what positions have to be replaced. I think WC will be right in the mix but coach Rice has some big holes to fill. The good thing is WC had big leads at the half for most games this year which allowed a lot of playing time for the younger kids. Thoughts?

I have you guys as one of the favorites coming out of the west. You may have lost a few good ones but a smart and savvy qb goes a long way in 1a football. I think your linebackers are gone but what about backs and line?

WC loses 4 and 7 from the backfield but will see 20 return to running the ball along with 8, 9 and 10 so will be fine there with another good mix of speed and power. You never replace players like 42 and 52 at linebacker but there's boys that got a lot of playing time there this year as freshman and sophomores that will do a good job in my opinion. Number 7 will have to be replaced at def tackle and maybe 20 if he moves back to linebacker like I think he will. WC returns one def end but lose one, not sure who will replace him yet. On the offensive side of the line WC will replace the center but return 54 at left tackle, 50 at left guard and 55 at right guard which will all be seniors and return 70 at right tackle who will be a sophomore. WC has 51 returning as a senior who has played center a lot this year along with sophomores Byrd and Mathis that will be fighting for starting positions on the line. All and all I think WC will be ready for another run

You guys are the defending region champs. Union City and Dresden will be favorites in their region. Trenton graduates 24 seniors but will still be good. I guess we have to put up with the University of Nashville Christian for 1 more year until they get bumped to private

Nobody can tell the future but I think it comes down to WC and HHS for the region again and whichever of us makes it that far, if either, at least it won't be in Nashville.

Wayne County will win this region for as long as Coach Rice is coaching in Waynesboro.

Eagle, I hope things work out for you which would mean I probably won't see you down here in WC on Friday nights watching next year but if things take a different path you know your welcome to come on down and hang with us WC fans anytime!

You've got some young studs. #20 is a game changer. We prepared well for him for the past 2 years, and it looks like we'll have to prepare for him again next year when we plan to see y'all in the playoffs. Y'all will most likely be the favorite next year with our huge loss of talent, but don't count us out. As for #20 goes, I can assure you that every lineman on the NCS team knows the name "Birchett".

I heard a rumor that a lineman from Houston County wore a piece of tape all week at practice with Brichetts name on it to get himself mentally ready to go for their match up. That #20 can move, believe me

I really doubt he will be back on the def line next year, probably be back at his regular position at middle linebacker, but I'm not the coach so we will just have to wait and see. He is a beast carrying the ball but ran very little this year as coach Rice kept him fresh on defense, very unselfish player.

    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
