Harpeth Head Coach

Jamie resigned at Franklin High. Could he be brought back?

I don't think so.  I think Jamie is interested in pursuing an administrative position and getting away from basketball for awhile.  I'd make that phone call too however.

It's just intriguing to me that Coach Mangrum has maintained ties in the area and his residence even though he's been gone from the building for 14 or 15 years.  He's had a couple of Metro stints.  He might be looking for a retirement destination.  Two and done coaches erode the alumni and community support in my opinion.  It's done a number on baseball and they finally went with experience and tenure over young and upcoming.  I understand why Harpeth is a stepping stone destination for some.  I'd just rather see them pursue somebody that wants to be here for the long haul.  Whatever that is in Cheatham County.

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.

    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
