Well it's almost that time. With CAK and Catholic moving on after this year I'm interested to see how fans of the teams think the season will go. CAK, in my opinion is the team to beat. My predictions:
1) CAK: three time district tournament champion, the returning district MVP in Hunter Reynolds and one of the best coaches in the Knoxville area in Coach Wells.
2) Catholic: returns their top 6 scorers from last season.
3) Alcoa: long, athletic, shoots the three ball could very well win the district.
4) Scott County: Billy Hall is a scorer team plays hard however another new coach for the Highlanders.
5) Kingston: Coach Naramore always has his team ready and they play hard. Not sure what Kingston has returning.

Irish chances certainly improved with the return of Brock Jancek. He was playing as well as anyone at the end of the year and has grown some more. I think Luke and Hunter are about dead even but they play different styles. It will take a little bit for CAK, Catholic and Alcoa to get the football players up to speed. Scott will have a new coach which may be a X factor. Kingston will battle but doesn't have the horses.

This was a topic of conversation this morning but the Catholic basketball program has competed in Division I (A, AA, and AAA) and Division II.  There's today trivia information for the day now back to hoops.  I was informed that Cole Smith had surgery on his shoulder (sustained an injury in game last week).  Hopefully it's nothing that will keep him out long.  He's an amazing athlete and even better person.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
