  1. I find this hard to believe. So we have a head coach that refuses the request of a principal, especially one for home team. And, then the head coach pushes the principal (a woman no less) over a mid-season game. Moreover, the "assaulted " principal then did not press charges or at least file a formal grievance against said coach. All this could be true. But it seems to me that more would have been said from an official standpoint had this occurred. The real truth may be a toned down variation of what has been presented here. Not sure why the Portland students were running on the field anyway. It's not as if the Panthers broke a ten game winning streak by White House. This game did not even assure them of winning the region championship.
  2. Agreed. Indepedance is only averaging about 28 per game. I'm thinking that the outcome will be closer to what befell Indy when they played Oakland.
  3. RePublic should definitely be in the conversation. They are beginning to win games and may get in the playoffs this season. And given the location of the school, they may draw players away from Hunters Lane, Maplewood, and Whites Creek.
  4. Hillwood shouldn't be taken for granted. They have just enough of a passing game that you need to get at least a two touchdown lead, and then grind it out on the ground.
  5. That is true. But the support is often better at below average county schools than it is for above average urban schools.
  6. I like how county schools support their teams.
  7. I came here looking for the punch line...and found nothing.
  8. I'm sure that both you and the local chipmunk population hopes that Mofojoe is wrong
  9. Soft parenting came from too much single parenting, and the fear of being accused of parental abuse.
  10. More likely hands-off parenting. Two things about private schools that give them an edge (besides "recruiting"). First, when money is in the equation people have a greater incentive to get involve. Second, many private schools require their student to engage in organized sports throughout their time there. So private schools tend to have full roosters. Public school parents don't have any skin in the game (beyond their property taxes). So there's less encouragement from parents to go out for sports, especially if there hasn't been any aptitude shown by middle school. On the other hand, roosters are often full in rural schools because those schools represent the community their serve. It's not just a place they go to.
  11. Six classes works poorly. Too many regions with six or fewer schools in them. This then forces schools to work harder to get out-of-region games scheduled in order to get a full slate of ten games for the regular season. And since many schools don't want to play teams in the regular season that they may see in the playoff, they end of playing teams out of their class anyway. By the way, why do you assume that I am aligned with a large school? I primarily follow Maplewood, a school that's 4A now, and would likely be 3A in a four classification system.
  12. Such is life. There used to be only three classes in football, period. It's this kind of sentiment that has three classes in Division II when there is fewer than 49 schools, which about average number of schools in each class in Division I. Or perhaps Division I should have about 18 classes to make it the same ratio as Division II
  13. You are coming across as a jerk. But you wouldn't be the first fan to do that. The thing is, you're starting out on CoachT as a jerk, much like FootballGod. How about trying to establish some goodwill first before you begin pointing fingers and trash talking?
  14. Be that as it may regarding similar demographics, the game is changed and matured since the glory days of Lincoln County. That was a generation ago before a time when Maryville and Alcoa began dominating their classes. Its not enough to have the coaches or the players, the pipeline going into high school also has to be there.
  15. I'd say it's basically demographics. And, its sizes actually works against them. If they were a smaller school (3A, 4A, or even 5A) they might have a better chance with the the student population they are working with.
  16. May be worse when they play Oakland. It's unfortunate for Warren County that they aren't in Region 5, or Region 3. At least then they'd might have a chance of getting into the playoffs every few years.
  17. If Macon County is seriously being considered as a region winner this late in the season then that's a good indicator as to how weak the region is.
  18. I'll believe that when FootballGod shows back up on CoachT
  19. That was a GREAT site. I would have been willing to donate to help keep it running.
  20. No rain at Panther Stadium. There was some lightning in the far distance towards the east.
  21. East Nashville is looking impressive. Their October game with Pearl Cohn may turn out to be epic.
  22. Stratford had some hard-running running backs. If they aren't stopped in the backfield they can grind out five to ten years before you know it.
  23. Sonny Moore also has Maryville behind Oakland but ahead of Alcoa in the overall ranking.
  24. I generally like this idea. Maybe have 5 classes, though. With the privates back in five would work well and allow for some expansion.
