  1. Nearly half of the teams on the list are from DeSoto County Mississippi. They must play some good girls basketball there. As far as I can tell about of half the high schools in the county are represented.
  2. As I recall it was 13-13 at the end of the first; and I believe it was 29-18 at the end of the half. Cheatham began pressing midway in the first period because they had gotten down by eight. The Cubs didn't stop pressing until mid-way into the fourth period. Rossview's post was a non-factor for them. Rossview's coach tried a variety of line-ups (from big, tall bodies to smaller quicker girls) to counter Cheatham's defensive pressure, but none work. Cheatham is not that tall a team (even for AA high school). But every player is quick, fast , and all over the floor when it comes to rebounds.
  3. If Cheatham County can manage to upset Rossview tonight I think they should be considered a top AA team. It will still be hard for them to get out of Region 5, though.
  4. With Carlisle gone Macon County's stock drops. But until they get out of that weak region they should be good for a post-season playoff spot.
  5. It's unfortunate how the game transpired. Good luck to Marshall County in the next round. Next year should be should be tight and competitive for four, maybe five teams, to win the region.
  6. 1. The same has been said about Greeneville. 2. You are discounting Haywood and Crockett County?
  7. A safe trip and injury-free game to all.
  8. So the game against Maplewood (that was won fairly easily) was worse than the three games loses, and the close win over Tullahoma? Your comment comes across as being full of bravado to me.
  9. I see the outcome being similar to the regular season match-up: Marshall County winning, with a similar margin of victory. But if Maplewood plays all four quarters to their potential (and I haven't seen them do that this season). The game could go either way.
  10. I believe Boski and I are the only two posters who follow Maplewood. I tend to be less of a homer towards the Panthers, and tend to be critical of the current coach staff.
  11. I believe you’re talking about Avion Black. He think he may have played fullback. But I do recall that he was a great returner, especially on punts. I recall him scoring twice on returns in one game.
  12. Maplewood played their "C" game the first half. The stepped it up to their "B" game in the second half. If the Panthers could actually put two halves together every game they would be state contenders. For example, against Lawrence County (a team they should have dominated from start to finish), they were behind 21-0 before scoring a touchdown just before the half. They wound up winning 35-28. So as it is, they haven't been much better than a second-round team in the past few years. You can't spot good teams in the play-offs and expect to win.
  13. I expect an outcome similar to their regular season meeting, including score. I can see the Panthers winning if they brought their "A" game and the Tigers brought their "B" game. Both are unlikely, in my opinion. As a side note, unless their is a major drop-off on the part of individual teams, I see Region 4 being very competitive next season. Maybe Lawrence County will be an outlier. But I can see the other five teams fighting for first place.
  14. I think the have exceeded expectations for a first year team, with no seniors. I would call them overachievers. But not underrated. If they can get by Maplewood this Friday then maybe they are underrated. And I only say maybe because this Maplewood team is not that great, even for a Maplewood team.
  15. I’m curious as to why you think Nolensville is underrated. They entered the playoffs at 3-7. And then just beat a #1 seeded team from a weak region. I will admit they did well for their first year in varsity. And, they may have actually done better in a weaker region. But underrated? By the way, I think they will be a force to content with in a couple of years.
  16. That's the beauty of being in Middle Tennessee: Some teams are on the east side of the bracket; some teams are on the west side of the bracket. And, occasionally, two middle Tennessee teams meet to play one another in the championship game.
  17. Slightly tangential to the points raised in the quote above, where does RePublic High School fit into the mix? Technically, they are a public high school. If they begin to get any success on the field (which shouldn't take long in the weak region they are currently in) I can see them possibly attracting a ton of good players from their area of Nashville: Hunters Lane, Maplewood, and Whites Creek. RePublic is within a three miles radius of all three schools.
  18. Not to toot Marshall County's horn, but one can also add to that that three teams in their region were in the pre-season AP Top Ten in 4A. And, Region 4 swept Region 3 in the first round, with only one game being even close.
  19. I watched the game online. I would say that it was much more of the latter.
  20. I think the west side (lower-half) of the 4A bracket is weak, overall. Even without Greeneville , I would still say that the 4A champion would come from the east side (upper-half) of the bracket.
  21. No disrespect to Nolensville, but I think had Tullahoma had gotten the 4th seed Livingston Academy wouldn't have come close to winning.
  22. Congratulations to Region 4 on their sweep of Region 3. If things progress with each team as they have been, next season is going to be a tight race for all four playoff spots.
