Just a question... Are we still thinking Baylor beats Cleveland in a dual this year? I would love to hear some opinions on possible matchups and dual outcomes.

Let's not forget that Hamm also trains ON THE MAT with his upperweights. I agree 100% that he's the best assistant in the state!

Wow! If this really happened, sounds like it may be less of a wrestling room issue and more of an "at home" issue. Personal accountability and taking responsibility for your own actions goes a long way.

That's a mat return to the trapped arm side, to a defenseless wrestler. That's the correct call when they land flat like that on the trapped arm. Responsibility is on the guy making the mat return that he doesn't go to that side. The rules are put into place for the safety of the wrestlers 1st. They don't need to be changed. The coaching in the wrestling rooms need to be adjusted. The official in that match is a highly decorated 20 year official who made the correct call. And just FYI, it was the trainer that wouldn't allow the match to continue not the coaching staff at Summit. I'm an official and not associated with any of the parties.

I was one of the two officials that called the match. It wasn't close. It was an absolute statement. No disrespect Bates at all. I dont know Trae. I do know wrestling in our area. I believe he's in the top 3 or 4 wrestlers in this state.

Central, Cleveland, Baylor, and Mccallie were in Tullahoma 3 years ago. That was some really good wrestling. Kramer wrestled them all.

Centennial was looking for a team or two last week for the 5th.

I was informed this week that no out of state teams could compete in TN until possibly after the new year. Just giving you a heads up just in case you end up needing 5 teams.

Trae did seem to slow in his finals match. With that being said, he pinned the 120 lb 2 x state champ at the Father Ryan Invitational in Jan. No freshman is going to challange him.... James is a big strong kid and a very talented wrestler but he'd have wrestle HARD against Coffey. Coffey is not a kid hes a man among boys. At 245 and all muscle hes as big and strong as a starting linebacker in the NFL. Would love to have seen the matchup but I believe most would agree that Coffey wins this one. 

I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing with the choice made by either, only saying blame shouldn't be pointed at them for their decision to report it. They were within there rights to do so whether its agreed upon by everyone else or not. It's an unfortunate circumstance for all involved. I think we can all agree on at least that.

Theres a code of ethics section in the back of every NFHS rule book. One for coaches and another for officials. Dont blame these 2 entities for following the rules and abiding by the code of ethics they agree to every year when they sign up.
