IMO, he will attend West Point Prep School for one year and then be accepted to the United States Military Academy @ West Point.

It's early in the season & I doubt that you will see any pitcher throw more that 30 pitches.

walkenvol, Is it not true that Cody Cleveland and all of the McCallie & Baylor wrestlers get a 100% paid wrestling scholarship plus an additional $800.00 per month spending allowance & demo car to drive? Has Baylor not hired the former East German sports scientist to give their athletes a "MAGIC PILL" that makes them get stronger & quicker without going into the weightroom?

If Josh Holt gets the opportunity to take the bump and has his A game it will take a very good team to defeat Lipscomb. You have to give it to the kid, he is not a thrower he is a pitcher that has been clocked around 88mph at a D1 college camp. Take it from me this kid will sign with a D1 school in two years.

How good will Christian Brothers & Germantown Houston be this year? Both are the defending state champions in D2 & D1 AAA.

Answer the question: How many state championships did Bradley win before the D1 & D2 split? You are correct that Baylor probably would not have one as many state championships if we had no split. But heck we can't even get Bradley to wrestle the big D2 schools in a dual or big time tournament like McCallie or Father Ryan. They remind me of Brandon, FL and Coach Russ Cozart.

Yes, Southside is still around but I really don't see them doing very much. The Simpson's & Dunning's have a different approach than most and they don't compete very much in the Spring & Summer. It is my understanding that they spend their time training with each other and in the weightroom. Maybe they know something that others don't: Philip Simpson 3X NCAA D1 ALL-AMERICAN NCAA D1 RUNNER-UP Patrick Simpson United States Military Academy (should make the NCAA's this year) William Simpson United States Military Academy (could qualify for NCAA's this year as a freshmen) Raymond Dunning ALL-AMERICAN @ Adams State Whitt Dunning United States Military Academy (wrestling varsity as a freshmen)

IMO, it dilutes the pool of talent and makes it easier to win a state championship. Ask yourself how many state championships did Bradley win before the D1 & D2 split?

The key to any good high school program is their feeder programs. How are they doing with their middle school teams and their club program for the younger kids. It takes a ton of work on the part of the coaches & parents to make everything come together and a team win a state championship. In Middle Tennessee the Williamson County Club has produced some good wrestlers that resulted in Brentwood Middle being strong the last two seasons. If those wrestlers stay together look for Brentwood to compete for a title in the next few years. The Nashville Catholic Club program seems to be generating some interest and numbers with the young kids. The Nashville Catholic middle school team has won their conference the last three seasons and those results should start to pay off in the near future. If Gorham and Simpson continue to coach the middle school team they will continue to be successful.

Jeff Francis (MBA) is a Freshmen. Does he have a good chance at winning it 4X?

You can go to the message board of both perfectgame.org (scout talk/tennessee 08) and hsbaseballweb.com (tennesee forum) and get an indepth report on the class of 08. Perfect Game is much more indepth and will tell you about the players. Omaha gave the report and seems to know the players.

This will be the best clinic any high school athlete & coach will ever attend. The number of schools that win state football championships using BFS is amazing. Coaches that use the FULL BEAT THE SYSTEM PRO PROGRAM (strength, running, flexibility & plyometrics) and cross all of the T's and dot the I's will be successful. The coaches just have to teach technique and be positive with their athletes, the program will do everything else.

Simpson could care less if he only has to officiate two matches and get's paid the full fee. Remember that they pay him as much as they do the good ones!!!!!

Sonny Gray can thorw 90+ & he demonstrated this several times during his freshmen season. He stayed around 87 but could run it up to 90 or 91 when he needed to. Let's hope that Sonny does not get injuried from over use like Michael Main (Deland, FL and one of the top 07 players in the country that hit 96 pitching for Team USA against Cuba) did after his freshmen season. He had to stop pitching his sophmore season for rehab.

Just a few things that would make the Tennessee State Wrestling Championships better: Place everyone back together for the individual and have a full 32 man bracket. Yes, I know that this is not going to happen but it would be the best thing for Tennessee wrestling. When you do the parade of champions have the finalist at opposite ends of the line. The top bracket wrestler is in front of the 135's and the bottom bracket wrestler is at the back. We will have trouble if we continue to do it the way that we are. The NCAA does this for a reason: NO TRASH TALKING OR FIGHTS!!!! Have the finals at 7:00pm I know what the TSSAA party line is but the fact is attendance was better when the finals were at night. The T$$AA just does not want to spend the extra $$$$ for teams to stay an additional night and some coaches want to get home early. Do like the NCAA and have the finals on an elevated stage. This makes for a unique atmosphere and the fans have better sight lines. Do away with the hospitality room. From the looks of several coaches they can afford to miss a few meals without any problems. It would be great if the wrestler could eat at the UTC dinning hall. It is my understanding the dinning halls were closed on Sat when the wrestlers tried go in. It's a logistics nightmare for coaches to have to weighin their wrestlers and then load them back in a van and take them to eat. It would be great if they could get a nutritious meal & it was within walking distance. Parking @ $5.00 per day is cheap. Go to any big even and you will pay 10-15 per day for parking. The TSSAA State Wrestling Tournament is inexpensive entertainment. It's really a good tournament that just needs to be fine tuned.

Some school (my old memory escapes me) used to have a speed & strength event where the lifts were the following: 1. power clean 2. bench press 3. parallel squat 4. dead lift They would also run the 40 yard dash Teams could enter 3 people in each weight classification and they had 10 weight classifications. Does anyone remember who the school was that hosted this?
-
It appears to me that we have several people at fault here: 1. The security personel that would not allow the wrestlers to the weigh-in area. 2. The coach for not getting to the weigh-in early (min 45 minutes) 3. The TSSAA for not understanding the situation Coach Carter has told coaches and anyone that will lisiten that he only sees black & white with rules. He will not make exceptions for anyone or anything unless to board instructs him to do so. If the coaches, parents, wrestlers, etc... do not feel that the TSSAA is doing a good job you need to get the employees of the TSSAA fired. The board would have to do this so that is who I would lobby. It would do zero good to speak with Coach Carter because it would be hard for him to fire himself. IMO the only thing that is going to come of of this situation is people are going to be upset but the coaches are not going to complain for fear of punishment.

D-I or D-II, Which one is harder to place in
cbg replied to MasterBlaster 1's topic in Wrestling Mat
If you feel that it is so difficult in D1, try this on for size. Only four regions in the state and only the top four go to state. Once you make it to state it becomes a tournament where if you loose the only way that you make it into the consolations is if the man that defeated you makes it to the finals. I almost forgot, only the top four wrestlers in each weight classificaton place and everyone is together. None of the D1 or D2 "LEGISLATIVE BS". The good old day's when you had to be a true stud to win or place in the state. -
Who for Oveton is going to catch the ball when the other team hits the ball or are Richie, Chris and Zack going to strike everyone out? You have alot of talent to replace and it is going to take some work for you to repeat last season performance. Having confidence is a good thing but you are talking crazy.

What lifts will they be doing? Parallel Squat? Bench Press? Dead Lift? Power Clean? Clean & Jerk? Snatch?

Why all of the forfiets with Seymour? Is there something that I have missed?

Move the Clinic Bowl to MBA where they are replacing the grass with field turf.

Should you add Pomeranz (sp?) to the list?

Qb's & receivers: Elite 11 Camp @ Mission Viejo, CA. (you must be a big time player or they will not allow you to attend) The Manning Camp: Be prepared to work hard in the sun, heat, & humidity. This camp s not for the person that wants to watch cartoons & drink a few cold beverages.

As did his son who also attended a private college where he played baseball. He is also the baseball coach at a D2 school.
