  1. I am sure about hiring an offensive coordinator. Unless Coach Webb has a change of heart he is staying at BGA.
  2. Coach Webb will continue to coordinate the defense and Coach Batten will bring in an offensive coordinator.
  3. It is official...the Roc Batten era at BGA has begun. If you don't know Coach Batten, he was the captain of Vanderbilt's football team under Woody. Played safety until he had a career ending injury before his senior year. He became a grad assistant while obtaining his masters degree. Coached at MBA under Rutledge and then hired by Bowers at Ensworth as DC. Great hire for BGA. Batten inherits one of the top senior classes in the history of BGA with four DI prospects and nine returning starters on defense and 8 on offense.
  4. They should adopt the rule, "must be present to win". His leaving the team should have disqualified him.
  5. Really surprised Josh Smith from BGA was overlooked. He had a great year playing corner and receiver. Not to take anything away from the players who made the team, but did the other receivers have the numbers Josh produced?
  6. I am 100% sure that Franklin did not want to play the game...not sure if it was Clayton or the principal's decision. I do know that if it were not for Coach Clayton, the first game in 2009 would not have been played. He thought it would be good for the community and scheduled it despite the principals wishes. Therefore, I doubt it was Clayton who turned down the game.
  7. They don't list tight end as a position for all state so Thomson will likely be left off the team. He had 101 tackles at linebacker so perhaps he could make it on defense.
  8. Ravenwood is definitely on the schedule but I don't think Milan is (unless the game with Smyrna did not get scheduled)
  9. We may have to wait another 100 years before the next BGA- Franklin football game. Franklin has turned down BGA's request to continue the rivalry. Now it looks like BGA may be travelling to Smyrna in week zero. Do Franklin fans agree with the school principal that it is not in their interest to play the school down the street? The games were competitive the last two years and the community interest was tremendous.
  10. Congratulations to Baylor on a great performance tonight over my Wildcats. Baylor is a class act. The players hit you in the mouth but stop on the whistle. No showboating and just all around good sportsmanship. Coach Massey could have scored again at the end but did the right thing and ran out the clock. Sorry Ensworth but your program does not display the same sportsmanship or class. Good luck to Baylor in the championship. The Boys of Fall (BGA) should be proud of their season. With only three senior starters graduating, next year should be a lot of fun.
  11. BGA plays in a classification where every team makes the playoffs (12) and they have beaten two teams (St. Benedicts and Christian Brothers) that Oakland, Franklin, and Blackman would have beat by at least 30. Christian Brothers was 9-1 and played a tougher schedule than Franklin. For anyone to say that a team that just lost 42-0 would beat them by 30 is ridiculous.
  12. First, nice prediction on the upset and score. As for next week, not so fast my friend. BGA matches up well with Baylor. The Wildcats turned the ball over way too many times last time the teams played. Should be a close on next week.
  13. Ensworth is much improved since the first game and should win by two touchdowns.
  14. What would the process be for correcting the stats on this site?
  15. First, student- athlete in big time college sports is a joke. Why would you want your high school to emulate that? Secondly, the top academic institutions like Vandy, Duke, and Northwestern require their student athletes to meet a higher standard than the NCAA minimum. Take a look at Harvard's football player's bios some time if you want to see how a prestigious educational institution does it. My point is that I am not going to regard a school highly in academics when they admit and pay for sub par students to attend for the purpose of winning football games. Ensworth is certainly not alone and sadly it is what you must do now to compete in Division IIAA.
  16. Why does a very highly regarded prep school admit this kid in the first place? Very highly regarded educational institutions typically don't admit students simply so they can help win championships.
  17. Good luck to smiley tonight..he's had a heckuva senior year!
  18. Good post powersweep. No reason for the Ensworth poster to put down Webb for playing where they are slotted.
  19. The AP poll is out and Webb is number one. Are the reporters too lazy to divide the DIIA from DIIAA? I am sure Webb is a very good football team but doubt they could beat many teams in the upper division of DII.
  20. Do linebackers ever win? I don't think many people would consider them as backs or linemen.
  21. I imagine he will play running back or slot receiver there. Did other schools recruit him?
  22. It was not meant to be an indictment of your intelligence. My reply was a poor attempt at humor. If proper English were a prerequisite, there would be little content on this board. I am sure there are grammatical and spelling errors in my posts so no right to call you out. I apologize.
  23. Based on spelling and sentence structure in your post, you should have kept the pamphlet.
  24. My kid plays in DII and I don't take offense...I agree with the poster. Is it illegal for a parent sending his kid to a private to recruit his child's middle school teammate? And once an athlete contacts the school the coach can legally start the recruiting process. Do some coaches go beyond this and bend or break the rules? You would have to be pretty naive to think otherwise.
  25. Blake Thomson is a tight end and linebacker.
