  1. From an outsider looking in... It may be rough sailing for Lincoln County athletics once the new city high school becomes a reality. In the short run it will be rough, in the long run, both schools can be good IF the TSSAA gets LC into a smaller classification but until that happens, a lot of the talent will go to the new city high school. Of course, it takes time to develop a new program. I have heard a rumor that the former Marshall County head coach may be the new head coach at the City high school. I guess it is way too early to know at this point. Good luck to both schools, this should be interesting.
  2. That may be true in your situation but they are a west TN team not far from you looking for a game. They did go deep in the playoffs and Coach Barger has them playing solid.
  3. GIBSON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL 2011-2012 HALLS DRESDEN MILAN* OBION* WEST CARROLL DYERSBURG* SOUTH GIBSON* COVINGTON* MARTIN* CROCKETT CO*
  4. If you have any schedules from 13-AA for 2011 please post.
  5. Their two advantages are numbers in the lower classes and their proximity to Jackson. The temporary down-side is a lack of facilities. In a couple of years they will have everything they need to be a first class program. Unfortunately for them, they will continue to grow in numbers while we should drop down to the next lower class. They have a good coaching staff and their boys will learn a lot these next two years playing in district 13AA
  6. We estimate we will have around 515 to 520 students in the fall with our last large class of seniors graduating in May. We asked the TSSAA to accept our numbers but we were turned down even though we were led to believe they would be favorable to our requests. Our school has students from other county schools in vocational classes and those are included in the 624 number even though they belong to Milan, South Gibson, Bradford, and Peabody. Those students only come to our school for one class a day. In two years we will be around 485 in our student body and will drop one class in football. The coaches voted to split our super district into an EAST-WEST bracket as recommended by the TSSAA. Each team will play all four teams in their side of the district plus three from the other side.
  7. Gibson County HS has available dates on our 2011-2012 football schedule. Click here for E-mail: Coach Atkins
  8. Based on the TSSAA policy: Two Five Team Groups in each district (each team playing every team in their five team group plus three from the other side). Eight District games total.
  9. I just found out that for the next two years, District 13-AA may become a 10 team district. South Gibson is probably going to be added to the district. Covington Crockett Co Dyersburg Gibson Co Haywood Co Martin-Westview Milan Obion Central Ripley Co South Gibson Co
  10. I have came full circle. Go back to 5 classes and take the top four teams.
  11. Gibson County will be under 520 next year. South Gibson HS will have their first senior class in 2011-2012. We have petitioned the TSSAA to move us down based on our new numbers.
  12. Gibson County will lose 120 students next year and our enrollment should be about just over 500 next year and under 500 the following year. The problem is the TSSAA will keep us in the same classification we are in for the next two years.
  13. Dave, your team fought hard all night long. I wish you the best of luck throughout the remainder of the season.
  14. You got me... 7:30! If they come early maybe they'll buy a hotdog and spend some money. We still have some nagging injuries. AGAIN: Have a safe trip.
  15. Dave, you guys have a safe trip down and take it easy on us! lol The game starts at 7 PM and we need you to encourage all those Falcon fans to make the trip too!
  16. RBS? Does he understand that RBS hasn't played anyone yet?
  17. The 10th Grade Class is a solid bunch and the 9th grade, rising 8th and 7th grade classes will be the ones to experience the change in classification. The 8th grade RB is solid! He will be a player!
  18. It will happen in three years when this current cycle runs out.
  19. I have coached the spread for over a decade and agree it is not for everyone. Last year I got away from it to some extent because I had a RB that rushed for over 2000 yards. A coach must evaluate his talent and adjust his scheme to some degree.
  20. Our numbers have dropped from over 800 down to under 600 and we will continue to drop to below 500 in the next two years. Dresden has a very good QB and the Lions will be a challenge as will everyone on the GC schedule.
  21. It's a numbers game. To field 32 teams for the playoffs in each classification, you will always have a few teams with a 5-5, 4-6 record to fill the slots.
